(Baton Rouge Advocate)   That five-acre Louisiana sinkhole that no one is paying attention to? Yeah, it's leaking gas and could ignite. If you had the portal to hell being Bayou Corne, Louisiana, then step on up to collect your prize   (theadvocate.com) divider line 4

doglover: Tellingthem: doglover: A compound bow. Some oily rags. A couple of wooden arrows. Elevation. A camcorder. Best youtube video EVER!

Except he's launching that TNT without cover.

True...in reality Bo would have shot the arrow as he was leaning out of the window of the General Lee while they were being chased by Rosco P Coltrane. And just as he got back in the car Luke would hit a massive ramp and they would launch 50 feet into the air over the sinkhole. Rosco meanwhile would chicken out at the last minute and swerve to miss the ramp and end up flipping his patrol car into a small creek nearby All the while the dynamite Bo shot would have reached the natural gas leak and exploded and created a massive fireball right in the path of the General Lee which quickly engulf them in midair. And then there would be a freeze frame image of the fireball and Waylon would come on with a one-liner and they would cut to commercial.

Can someone tell me why a construction company that builds roads and bridges is doing the well design on a potentially explosive gas well?

Not the first time or the last this has happened in a southern oil field. The presence of large amounts of natural gas seeping to the surface in and around oil fields has been causing periodic explosions since the 1920's. Something, be it static, a spark, a carelessly discarded cigarette, or even a lightening strike will eventually set it off, and the result will be a huge "blue hole" that will fill up with brine water. They are lucky in that it's a fairly rural area and fewer people will be killed than in previous examples. Just remember those of you up north, your fields are typically prevented from having this seepage as your sands are underneath a nice thick layer of shale, preventing the seepage that occurs in the more permeable, loose soil structures down south....oops, but you all don't want the EPA preventing fracking, which intentionally SHATTERS those shale barriers? Too bad, because that is what causes this sort of issue and will be causing the blow out holes in those areas eventually.
