(Fark)   So apparently my brother, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law all have the same model Samsung phone, and all of them updated off Daylight Savings Time this morning. Here in the US it's not until Nov. 4th. Anyone else have that happen? LGN   (fark.com) divider line 31

Mine is, but as with my cell phone I disabled that feature when they changed the dates. I own movies that aren't available on DVD.

My SIL was all smug in asking me if I was enjoying being at work an hour early, then I cited the actual date and she was mad that her phone trolled her.

I honestly couldn't find any news about this from today, only from March this year.

My Samsung TV did it a couple of weeks ago (and it's less than 3 years old).

I don't know about their phones, but their software for TVs and BluRay players really really sucks.

I travel too much to let my phone change the time automatically. If I don't do it manually, fark if I know what time it is.

So what model phone was it. If it was several years old with firmware made before the time was changed again, it makes sense. When a company stops supporting a device, it means you don't get the new time change when Congress gets a some stupid reason in their head that they need to mess with DST dates.

My friend's Android phone did that last night, but i have no idea who the manufacturer is.

The ones in my house were not that old, they are Samsung Admires, I believe.

/Subby, BTW.

Understandable in your case.

It's different for different countries. Which makes sense, since the benefits vary by location due to numerous factors, mainly latitude.

My LG phone did it, too. Twice. I was like "WTH, phone? Knock it off".

Clocks changed here today and everything updated automatically just fine, even the microwave, which is Samsung. Maybe the manufacturers default setting is for European date?

Ffffffuuuuuuu, don't remind me that's happening again

Last year we had a bug where one of our UK customers had 1 of 2 servers switch on US schedule. I tried and tried to explain it to our support team, and exactly what patch they needed to install, but they closed it as unreproducible, because a week had passed and everything was fine by then.

Guess I've got a fun Monday ahead of me...

How does one state not observing DST make it better than "the rest of the country," given that there are other states that also don't observe DST? That's like me saying that driving a Subaru makes me better than all other drivers.

So I was going to wait for the power to collapse on the east coast, and then suggest that everyone in the world change their clocks ahead one year....

Work computer switched over. When I came in my boss told me that I was in too early. I had to explained to her what happened and that DST isn't until Nov. 4th.

No way. If it wasn't for DST, my kids would be arriving at school an hour before the sun came up in the middle of winter. Getting the 1-hour difference this is not THAT hard of a feat to master. When i lived in AZ, I always had to play the 'What is the time difference THIS time of year?' game when calling out of state. Now, It's back to being a matter of knowing what time zone they're in. Unless it's Arizona, then I have to try and figure out what the time difference is al over again.

As for the thread topic: I have it enabled on my phone, I always have, and I have never had an issue, even when they changed dates. My incorrectly named "atomic clock" is always screwed, but that's because it just runs all of the time, even when unplugged, and automatically sets/resets when the power goes off(Like I said, not "atomic", just pre-programmed), wo we have to manually reset it. MY bedroom clock and my watch(Actual "atomic clock") have no issues though. I don't see how it would be a Samsung thing(I have the Galaxy SIII), since the time is set through the carrier's network. I think subby needs to point the Finger Of Blame™ at the cell phone provider, IMHO.

I think it's only Arizona and Hawaii.
