Reboots: because original ideas are hard, and people are morons that will watch pretty much any old shiat.

Anyone remember Nowhere Man?

'Cause I do, and I never saw the final episode, and I'm kinda pissed that it just ... vanished. Like, as if it never even existed...

Redwing: Also, personally I'd like to see WKRP in Cincinnati rebooted but in today's automated "Jack FM" world it probably would have to be set in the time of the original series.

Actually that could be the point a broke weak signal station in a market dominated by Clear Channel. You would then have room for the once huge local DJ now reduced to 14 listeners after being replaced by a computer. Low ratings/Weak Signal means low end sponsors good potential there. Constant argueng over the play list. The trick would be to find a cast that plays well with each other.

I'd like a new non-dark Stargate series. Universe was absolutely horrible and I'm still pissed it killed the chance of an Atlantis movie.

/Atlantis did "cut off from Earth" better. Stupid-ass communication stones

It already happened, it was called Journeyman. It was awesome and immediately cancelled. Thanks NBC!

You are never to bring that up again. I believe the cancellation of Journeyman was the "jump the shark" moment for scripted broadcast network television shows.

AH yes - the year of shows cancelled before their time: Journeyman (Actually, it's based off of "The Time Traveller's Wife" than it is Quantum Leap, but whatevs...) Flash Forward (that may have been a different year) and Daybreak, which also was a great show.

fusillade762: I have an idea! A show about a detective who has an almost supernatural ability to solve crimes. To the point where people think he's psychic. He should also have poor social skills. Wouldn't that be great?!?

You have a bright future ahead of you developing new shows for USA Network.

Soap was great. I don't think it could be done correctly if it was rebooted today though.

I agree with you here. Too much of the humor wouldn't be allowed in the PC world of today. Can you imagine Bob saying "Look at the fruit fly" after the devil baby sends Jody out the window?

I can. It's called Arrested Development.

brigid_fitch: I think the only ones on there I'd like to see are Quantum Leap and Soap. As many have already mentioned, there's a built-in spin-off for Quantum Leap. Soap, though--that was just a loony show and could totally work.

There are two 90s Sci-Fi shows I'd love to see get a Doctor Who style continuation... Quantum Leap and Sliders.

Both had rather inconclusive endings, and could easily be picked up with minimum fuss a few years down the road from where they ended.

QL has Sam's daughter working at Project Quantum Leap. So, she leaps to go searching for him. Simple.

Sliders has the real Professor out there stranded on Azure Gate Bridge world, trying to find the rest of his sliding mates, which gives us the ability to ignore everything shiatty that happened after season 2 and get back to the parallel earths concept.

Shows that should be considered for a reboot should be ones with great ideas that weren't done quite right the first time around. Battlestar Galactica is a perfect example of going back to get it right. Buck Rogers would use the same treatment. Loose the cheese factor, make it gritty. Turn Buck into a badd-ass who kicks serious butt, not some disco dancing doofus like in the original series.

Don't reboot a show that got it right the first time. MASH should not be touched (I will cut you if you try, biatch!). Same with Soap. Both of those were awesome the way they were. Any reboot attempt would fail because they simply can not be improved.

And as much as I'd love to see Firefly come back, I know that it can never be. They did everything right with that show. Unfortunately, there aren't enough intelligent tv watchers to sustain a show like that. So we get more Idol and Snookie. Stupid tv for stupid people.

you can't reboot x-files because the whole alien conspiracy thing is no longer taken seriously. since 9/11 conspiracy theories are all politically based (truthers, birthers, etc) and the internet lets the man on the street debunk the ridiculous alien stuff x-files made its bread and butter throughout its run

I'd love to see a Buck Rogers reboot where the future is the same as the original series. He'd wake up and think he'd gone back in time 30 years with disco, Lycra jumpsuits, and giant computers everywhere.

SilentStrider: Some of those could work, I guess. Like Head of the Class.
Quantum Leap could be done as a spinoff even. Say someone attempting to replicate Beckett's work gets caught in the same way.

But please, not M*A*S*H.

Quantum Leap has a built-in spinoff... Sam's daughter works at the project, goes off leaping to try to find him and bring him home.
