Something something Firefly.

Also, personally I'd like to see WKRP in Cincinnati rebooted but in today's automated "Jack FM" world it probably would have to be set in the time of the original series.

Reboots: because original ideas are hard, and people are morons that will watch pretty much any old shiat.

Some of those could work, I guess. Like Head of the Class.
Quantum Leap could be done as a spinoff even. Say someone attempting to replicate Beckett's work gets caught in the same way.

But please, not M*A*S*H.

Actually, some folks have been working to bring Quantum Leap back for more than a decade. Something about Beckett's daughter on a quest through time to bring him back or something. I don't think they've even made it to the pilot stage.

Quantum Leap has a built-in spinoff... Sam's daughter works at the project, goes off leaping to try to find him and bring him home.

I'd love to see a Buck Rogers reboot where the future is the same as the original series. He'd wake up and think he'd gone back in time 30 years with disco, Lycra jumpsuits, and giant computers everywhere.

It has been about a decade since Firefly was on the air and most of the actors in it have moved on. A reboot might be agood idea.

Quantum Leap and Soap maybe. Let the rest go.

Also Deadwood should have been number one.

2012-10-28 05:21:20 PM
These are all pretty terrible ideas, especially MASH and X-Files.

We're just lucky TV isn't trying to give us another Love Boat.

Soap was great. I don't think it could be done correctly if it was rebooted today though.

you can't reboot x-files because the whole alien conspiracy thing is no longer taken seriously. since 9/11 conspiracy theories are all politically based (truthers, birthers, etc) and the internet lets the man on the street debunk the ridiculous alien stuff x-files made its bread and butter throughout its run

"Quantum Leap"

It already happened, it was called Journeyman. It was awesome and immediately cancelled. Thanks NBC!

2012-10-28 05:22:40 PM
MASH? No, can't see it. The rest? maybe, if done right.

Oh, and for the record, I will ALWAYS have the biggest crush on Erin Grey.

List if farked on my phone anyone have the rundown

and it fails without loveboat the next generation

Also, X-Files doesn't need a reboot, it just can be continued. Duchovny is still around, although still doing Californication I think. Anderson somehow is aging in reverse, so there is that. The second movie being a long FOTW episode (and a weak one) hurt any chance of an actual continuation, though. =(

I'd love to see Quantum Leap back, but based on the lack of success for Journeyman, I'd doubt it will happen. And it really should. Journeyman was amazing. Just finished rewatching the only season. It was solidly written, plotted, and acted. Not sure why there was no love for it.

Buck Rogers is a durable concept for comment and humor buckled to swashes of scifi but the rest of that list is pretty lame.
Although I'd like to see a Supernatural/X-Files crossover.

2012-10-28 05:31:00 PM

Nina_Hartley's_Ass: the rest of that list is pretty lame.

Not that all the shows were lame but that reboots are not needed.

I'd like a new non-dark Stargate series. Universe was absolutely horrible and I'm still pissed it killed the chance of an Atlantis movie.

/Atlantis did "cut off from Earth" better. Stupid-ass communication stones

I may be wrong, but I think it was the first show that dealt openly about homosexuality and a lot of the jokes might seem pretty mild today, but back then it was a fricken riot.

A "Buck Rogers"-esque show has already been done:

...and it was farking awesome.

SeaQuest was a good show

How about something ORIGINAL instead?

Dollhouse.

Actually that could be the point a broke weak signal station in a market dominated by Clear Channel. You would then have room for the once huge local DJ now reduced to 14 listeners after being replaced by a computer. Low ratings/Weak Signal means low end sponsors good potential there. Constant argueng over the play list. The trick would be to find a cast that plays well with each other.

Marshal805: How about something ORIGINAL instead?

Oooo! I have a idea that I've had going through my head. It's about a futuristic amusement park where dinosaurs are brought to life through advanced cloning techniques. I call it "Billy and the Cloneasaurus."

We need a Max Headroom reboot!

You can even use any of a number of 'low income' stereotypes.

No love for "Small Wonder"?
Or maybe they could take inspiration from "Heil Honey I'm Home", just about Osama bin Laden instead of Hitler and his wacky antics with his wives.

Anyone remember Nowhere Man?

'Cause I do, and I never saw the final episode, and I'm kinda pissed that it just ... vanished. Like, as if it never even existed...

Nothing is in need of a reboot. Let's try some original programming for a change.

I'll be happy to keep her occupied and off your screen.

Also, a second season of Surface would be welcome in the Pooper household.

eh, I would almost prefer a reboot of the X-Files if only to clean the slate of a show that went very much off the rails its last few seasons. Though I preferred the Monster of the Week episodes, I do think the show could've better integrated those episodes into the longer story archs. I found the alien conspiracy episodes to be the least interesting ones, but I think X-Files' main problem was that it would go a week or two without referencing the longer archs to the point where I would mostly just forget what the hell was being referred to when they did come back to those episodes. I'm pretty sure I forgot all about Alex Krycek until his inevitable return every other season.

Riptide was fun. I was a kid when it came out, and there was this salesman at the local Radio Shack that looked exactly like Joe Penny. I wonder how much tail he got.

Two that I would choose right off the bat would be Babylon 5 and Star Blazers, the last being the American adaptation of the Japanese anime series, Space Battleship Yamato. Both are well written, arc driven series that could easily be done in a ten to thirteen episode format for five years on a network like HBO, Showtime or Starz. Both series are dated in their original forms, but could easily be updated for today's audiences, much like Battlestar Galactica.

I thought X-files did get a reboot. It's called Fringe.

I agree with you here. Too much of the humor wouldn't be allowed in the PC world of today. Can you imagine Bob saying "Look at the fruit fly" after the devil baby sends Jody out the window?
