AntiNerd: Can someone explain to me what the GOP is offering that seemingly 50% of the nation is buying?

Walker made a similar promise when elected in WI, but he managed to fark up the state so badly that we didn't even come close to that figure.

Be advised: No matter how much a conservative is low-balling when he promises an economic turn-around, he is capable of farking it up.

Zandi isn't the only one predicting robust job growth. Joel Prakken, senior managing director of Macroeconomic Advisers, forecasts 11 million jobs added over the next president's term.

This is what scares republicans the most. That Obama might raise raxes, and this this will happen.
Since Reagan, we had
Reagan tax cuts, then growth
Clinton tax hikes then growth
Bush tax cuts then not much of anything

So for simple people, Trickle down is a tie since we started it.

Obama might break that tie and give more (albiet very simplistic) evidence that trickle down doesn't work.

Yeah, this is looking at the issue from an extremely simplistic view, but sadly this is how many voters (especially the undecided) think.

Actually it was Reagan tax cuts then loss followed by Reagan tax hikes then growth.

They don't fark it up. It's a poor choice of words.

They cash out.

They fark it up for you and me,
They and their friends will make out like bandits.

shiat, these guys will probably hedge bets against the market and then laugh as they make it crash.

The economy has already turned a corner and started to rebound, corporate profits and the dow are way up, consumer confidence is up, home prices rose by 4.6% last month, unemployment is down, foreclosures are down, auto reposessions are down. Romney wants to take credit for this... to borrow an old Al Gore quote [this is] "like the rooster taking credit for the sunrise."

Lurking Fear: Romney is campaigning using lots of vague terms that in reality mean nothing and would do nothing. Sort of an interdependent consultant who specializes in in proactive solutions to hypothetical situations.

A cynical person might even say he's BSing.

The only time the Romney ads are in any way explicit is when it's a blatant lie.

"Obama doesn't want to work across the aisle" = "He won't roll over and do what we tell him to do"

Yep, but if they get in and give the rich more tax cuts first they get to keep the trickle down myth alive for another 20 years.

To be fair, most of his audience is easily swayed by pictures of flags, eagles, troops, and crosses.

And to be honest, any specifics he give will fall into either of these catagories.
a) easily refutable BS
or
b) what obama wants to do

Well, yes, that's the kicker. The economy is improving and will likely continue to improve no matter who is president. If it's Romney, he will smile, step up, take credit for it, and use it to run for a second term. Hell, he took credit for the turn around of GM, so of course he will take credit for any improvements from Day 1.

I've always believed a (further) recovery is going to happen over the next for years. The thing that aggravates me is that the guy responsible for turning the ship through unprecedented obstructionism (and some of the most hateful rhetoric slung in a generation) may not be the one to get credit for it in the end.

If Romney wins, Obama's presidency is going to get reduced to little more than janitorial work. Wait, that's not entirely accurate. At least some people thank their janitors. Meanwhile, Uncle Pennybags gets all the glory and reinforces the belief that his type is the kind who really deserve the White House.

Quasar: Granted, Obama will take credit for it if/when it happens if he's re-elected, but that would bother me a lot less than Romney doing it because then that would encourage people into thinking Republicans help this country.

And Obama isn't saying "I WILL do it and I won't tell you how"

Yep. It's roughly like Romney saying "Vote for me and the sun will rise on inauguration day in DC at 7:23. Obama isn't promising that, I can and I am!"
