AntiNerd: Can someone explain to me what the GOP is offering that seemingly 50% of the nation is buying? EVERYTHING they say that isn't smoke in mirrors is outright bigotry, plutocracy, fundamentalism or misogyny. The people who benefit from what they SAY they are going to do is actually quite small.

So what is it? Do they hate Obama that much for no reason?

I hadn't posted this a while (it isn't popular I know) but it reflects what actual Farkers think. And if they represent the nation as a whole this election should be a Reagan-Mondale type blowout, not a statistical dead heat.

This is why we need to get Obama in office. The recovery is picking up, and whoever is president will see America start to prosper again. We cannot let Romney take credit for Obama's foundational work, and the recovery that economists see coming regardless of who's in office.

Then Romney becomes Reagan 2 Plutocrat Bugaloo.

Eatin' Queer Fetuses for Jesus: bigbadideasinaction: I_Am_Weasel: It's the same 12 million jobs they forecasted would be created regardless of what is done?

Yep, but if they get in and give the rich more tax cuts first they get to keep the trickle down myth alive for another 20 years.

And if they don't win, and Obama let's the tax cuts on the wealthy expire, and the 12 million jobs get created anyways, the trickle-down myth with finally be debunked and destroyed forever. That is why they are going to steal this election.

No it won't be. They'll just say that the economy improved in SPITE of Obama raising taxes on the rich. You see, when you've already thrown all logic and reason out the window anyway, there's no limit. Nothing can debunk their talking points, because they will either just reject the facts as invalid or separate the cause from the effect. It's incredibly intellectually dishonest, but par for the course for today's GOP.

2012-10-28 07:49:08 PM
Well, considering that the "studies" cited by Romney suggested that the 12 million jobs were going to be created over the next 10 years, yes, that's very realistic. In fact if it creates only 12 million jobs it would be below the trend from October 2010 until now.

I take solace in the fact that even if Romney wins, the economy will likely improve at some non zero rate.

Wouldn't like to be a low or middle income person, a young person or a woman during his administration, though.

Wait a minute, I AM a middle income person....

2012-10-28 08:55:53 PM
my fil is certain that there will be a huge economic surge if romney wins. His argument is that since it isn't obama, everyone will be happy and start spending again. I buy that to some extent, but there is no big business that would start major projects just b/c there is a new president. They would wait to see what policy changes are going to take place, etc. his brain is so riddled with fox news quotes that he is claiming that the repubs came with a new budget and the dems didn't bring anything to the table. it's painful to watch

Those 12 million jobs will result from actions that President O took 3 or 4 years ago......that's how long the lag time is between action and results. Rmoney knows this so that's why he's trying to stake claim to President O's successes now, just in case he wins/steals the election.

Rmoney wants credit for the jobs Obama's actions created years ago - just like Rmoney wants credit for making suggestions that saved the auto industry by letting it go bankrupt before not letting it go bankrupt, got it?
