I'll bet you still get it a bit wrong from time to time, I know I have. The way I understand it is somebody makes some sort of joke. Then somebody bastardizes that joke in such a way that leads to more bastardization. Then you start to get into the whole life cycle of a meme.

But nobody's really commenting that the Republican anti-Obama types have gotten so ridiculous that this girl fell victim to Poe's Law with her satirically funny costume. You really do seem to enjoy speaking for other people. It's intriguing..

You say no one cares. This indicates that you are apparently the self-appointed speaker for everyone. Your humility is rivaled only by your unparalleled powers of perception! I do hope that you can enlighten us with further visionary proclamations of what we all care about, because until you saw fit to pipe up I had no idea how I felt on the matter. Thank you for informing me. I'm further impressed by your psychic and eloquent ability to be so sure about my habit of "keeping track and all." Most would call that a baseless, pointless accusation, but not I, sir; I call it flattering genius. I hold very dearly your vote of confidence in my reading comprehension.

I do find this whole thread quite astounding as well! 100+ comments on a subject about which NO ONE CARES! I never thought I'd see the day! This is truly a social phenomenon you've stumbled upon here, especially considering that you somehow cared enough to comment that "no one cares". I bow to your superior intellect and courage to dive so confidently into the terrifying realm of self-contradiction with such reckless abandon. You are truly a credit to the human race.

Though it was not your "having an opinion on a topic" that converted me to the Path of the Visionary, but your miraculous ability to declare EVERYONE's opinion on the topic. I googled the definition and learned something tonight. Now where is my gotdamn cookie?

I'll bet you still get it a bit wrong from time to time, I know I have. The way I understand it is somebody makes some sort of joke. Then somebody bastardizes that joke in such a way that leads to more bastardization. Then you start to get into the whole life cycle of a meme.

Actually, NASA has almost nothing to do with it. Army R @ D and testing is the main driver of the local economy. People think Alabama is redneck central. The diversity and composition of north Alabama is amazing and rivaled by no place I have ever visited. And, we have more religious tolerance than most places. As I'm pretty sure you already know but don't want to mention, your stats are drastically skewed by the minimal rural populace of north Alabama compared to Huntsville and Birmingham. Those two cities are indeed minimally affected by the Alabama Time Warp (10-20 years, tops). There are plenty of regions (particularly south Alabama) where it's like stepping back between 50-100 years.

I worked at NASA there for several months and I still found it to be a redneck infested shiat hole where I was constantly being beat over the head with bibles. The only places I find worse than Alabama are southwestern VA and Texas. Move there? I never even want to visit there again. I hated every second of that giant Jesusfreak encampment.

There are a lot of places that are far more interesting than the HSV area - and I've been lucky enough that since my brief period of misery there to actually spend my time in those places. San Diego, Denver, Minneapolis and San Jose all are far preferable to Huntsville. shiat, I'd even pick Detroit before I'd go back there.

Sure, I agree. But north Alabama, Huntsville is one of the most progressive places in the United States. I live there, and I take exception to anyone calling it out. It is one of the best places to live, period.

Visit New York City for a week, particularly Queens, then reread this comment. You'll facepalm yourself into next week.

vestona22: No true "grammar snob" would ever say, "It should be 'its' without an apostrophe because 'village' is singular."

Stupid people have been calling mediocre people "grammar snob" and "grammar nazi"-- just for displaying a basic knowledge of the English language--for so long, that standards have been lowered.

Exactly. It should be "its" because "village" is an inanimate object. Inanimate objects don't possess things in the English language.

Actually, after further thought, I'm retracting my previous statement. Though confusingly stated, I believe she meant to say something like, "It should be 'its', not 'their'. Because 'their' would be correct only if 'village' was plural, and it's not. It's singular. Furthermore, there should not be an apostrophe since 'its' is not a contraction in this case."

I'm assuming she didn't actually write the statement, but said it verbally to the reporter/interviewer who then transcribed it. In that context the statement makes sense, since you wouldn't know which its/it's she meant without the no apostrophe comment.

Trolling a sign?

Kids stuff. Penny ante.

Nails in the parking lot at a Tea Party rally
Defaced Church sings
Senator's son beaten for Romney sign
Children paid to sing just die, polar bears killed seas filled with oil
Obama asks UN to monitor US elections
Vandals key Romney supporter's car with the word Obama
Obama's brother still living on $11 a month
Obama supporters promise to riot and burn America if he loses
Early voting military ballots mysteriously go up in flames in plane crash
Obama supporters promise to assassinate Romney
Black Obama supporters attack white students at rally
Obama supporters burn Romney signs beat homeowner
Reporter attacked at Romney event by black mob
Tea Party supporter Nathan Tabor violently assaulted by Obama supporters
Obama voters going door to door pretending to be magazine sales
NC voting machines registering Obama when Romney is selected
Twitterverse explodes with hate by Obama supporters
Obama supporters in New Hampshire kick Tea Party man in groin, spit on news cameras
Obama supporter beats wife after she accuses him of liking Romney
ThinkProgress defends threats against Romney

Oh, there's only about ten thousand more.

This is one of those everlasting conundrums for me. It was the Republican Party that won freedom for the slaves in the South, a part of the US utterly dominated by Democrats - you know the same Democrats who denied equal schooling in Arkansas? Riding the bus in Mississippi? George McGovern t'weren't no Republican, you know. Put the dogs on marchers in Selma? Any of that ring a bell?

But black-Americans just will vote Democrat. I don't how to process that. The very people who enslaved them and fought a war to keep them enslaved, then that political party worked like the devil to keep them down after the war and .... they vote Democrat.

It is a mystery.

Oh, and it was Democrats who were wild for eugenics. Not Republicans.

Oh, well. You can lead a whore to culture but you can't make her think.

It wasn't a vast liberal conspiracy to make tea partiers look like idiots, it was just a costume the photo for which got taken completely out of context by the internet liberals without the knowledge nor participation of the subject of said photograph.

People like her and her friends have been around for decades. They make fun of others to look 'cool' to the other people in their clique. Nasty people that when karma comes a calling on them later in life, I smile just a little on the inside.

To you and many others in this thread, I present the following from TFA, which apparently almost nobody has read:

"Starting her freshman year, she was invited to her first college party. It had a theme - the Boston Tea Party. In a rush to put together a costume, she thought she'd be clever. She Googled "Tea Party signs." She saw one that inspired her scrawling on the pizza box, although she says that the grammar on the original sign was correct. The misspellings were her idea to make sure no one thought she was serious.

She showed the sign to her roommate, who took a picture and later put it on her Facebook page."

I read that part. A bunch of libbtards were having a party in the same vein that many people have homeless or bum parties. To make fun of the target. Exactly what I was saying.

I think he means the Obama ones are unoriginal because it was done to Bush first. Though the new ones do have the added birther twist, so that part's new.

Not so much... Liberals AND conservatives were crazy about eugenics until a certain fascist named Hitler got on the bandwagon. The American Progressive movement was all for it until Hitler and his government started it's eugenics program.

Basically if you were an intellectual, you were in favor of it in the late 19th to early 20th centuries. And yes, back then, conservatives and liberals were both intellectuals.
