Do all troves have treasure in them? Is there any other kind of trove besides a treasure trove? Like, I don't know,is there such a thing as a "pie trove" or a "booze trove" or a "used plastic shopping bags trove" or something like that? Or is it just treasure that is stored in troves? Is it like a "pride of lions," a "parliament of ravens," a "parade of elephants," or a "bucket of chicken"?

I think its common to use a phrase like "a trove of information", but less likely in the forms you list

pie and booze would be treasure to a lot of people, particularly a trove's worth of either.

There is such a thing as a Booze Trove, although in Canada we just call it a "twofer".

I'm pretty sure it's an "infestation of trolls." Or maybe a "basement of trolls."

The Romans knew how to party. Hoimosexuality has been accepted throughout the ages by many cultures. When did it become taboo?

I'd attribute that to the rise of Christianity ( and later, Islam). IIRC, the pagan Germanic tribes frowned on that as well.

Actually, peg it on the Jews. That's where most of "Christianity"'s prohibitions on homosexuality come from. Jesus never said anything about it.

Lots of people old and new looked down on it. Julius Caesar caught a bunch of shiat from his political opponents for being "the queen of Bithynia" supposedly for being a bottom to the king while on a diplomatic mission there in his youth. In that case it was more of a way of portraying him as weak. Later on persecution of homosexuality may have backlash on the part of Constantine et al against some of the destructive forces of hedonism on the empire.

To be really technical, they looked down on bottoming. If you were a Roman male citizen and you bottomed, you were betraying your class and position in the social order. However, you could fark anyone, male or female, and it would not affect your standing. It was somewhat similar to ancient Greece, though there it was more based on age than social status, i.e., the older man farked the younger man, never the other way around. Then there were "super" men who could just fark anything, even other dominant males, because they were themselves so dominant.

This is what I've read anyway.

If I remember right, a trove refers to a collection of something gathered, and hidden.
