I like MLS, but I'm not sure that going up against football is the right move. Especially in the last week of the regular season when all the playoff teams have already been determined.

Is it me or does NBC's MLS music (the starting-lineup music in particular) uses sound more appropriate for a newly-minted superhero standing on a rooftop in the middle of the night?

I'll wait for the Rapids game later, but gonna root for the Red Bulls and Thierry Henry to beat The Union.

/sorry Philly

I am not a huge fan of MLS, but I lived in DC for a while, and went to a game or two.

So..for the DC fans...

La Barra Barva Drum Circle. MUCH louder in person.

Saturday is just the standard 'soccer gameday' all over the world. MLS didn't pick it. That's just the day. The fact that it goes up against college football is of no consequence. Saturday is Soccer Day On Earth.

Too many games on today...gotta record'em

Is it just me, or did the Union fans seem a bit disjointed when they were singing the national anthem?

Coincidentally, the way they do it in Philly is the way the should do it in other American sports imo

Go Union.

DCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC UNITED!!!!

www.washingtonpost.com

The goal heard round DC: I still get shivers watching it.

Feels weird to cheer for Philly, but hopefully they get it done against the Pink Cows. DC is 5-0-1 in their last 6 and just need 1 point to secure 2nd place. Come on UNITED!!!!

Vamos, Vamos United!

Looks like the US finally has the right distance on the cameras. Last year the matches I saw the cameras were either too far back or too close. This distance is more visually appealing.

If you watch a game on ESPN the cameras still suck, NBC just knows how to do it right.

MLS -- the sole reason DC can't lance that festering boil that is RFK Stadium.

Wow, way to suck Philly.

Through no fault of DC. They want to have their own stadium and have the money backing to build it. The DC Council is the one holding them back. Add to that that the National Park Service owns RFK so you can exactly raze the thing if you want to.

Go ahead and keep talking about things you have no information about though.

Damn shame ESPN hasnt figured it out yet. That 40- yard field of view just looks right to me.

It's prime real estate inside the District. There's no reason taxpayers should be maintaining it indefinitely without a real pro sports team tenant. Redskins left in, what 1997? Nats have been gone since 2009. Let 'em work out a lease with The Dan to play at FedEx; maybe he'll have the cash to replace that worn-out grass with FieldTurf.

The other cities with the bad multipurpose stadiums have largely figured out a way to replace them; what makes DC so different? (Yes, Oakland is an exception. The Chargers still play at Jack Murphy Qualcomm. 49ers have a path out of whatever it is they're calling Candlestick, but there's no baseball team either place anymore.) RFK is just a dump. It has been since about 1990. They fixed it up a bit when the Nats showed up, but..... Well, at least it's not the Astrodome.

You didn't read what I said. What makes DC so different from everywhere else is that the Federal Government owns a lot of land that the city doesn't have access to. RFK and the surrounding lots is one of those areas. The city has no control over what goes on there and right now the Government is fraught with criminals going to jail and a Mayor that is being investigated by the Feds.

DC is looking at Buzzard Point, an area near Nats stadium. They have the money to finance it, just need the city to agree and help with some infrastructure. I don't understand what you are missing here.

Holy crap, New England win two in a row to close our the season. Hopefully it won't provide false how, because that ram is simply not good enough to compete in this league.

False hope...

Hurricane Sandy could really throw a wrench in the MLS wildcard game if it's played in DC or NY.

Goooooooooooool, for DC United, to tie it up at one apiece.
