Mississippi State's schedule so far:

Jackson State (1-AA team, currently 4-4)
Auburn (currently 1-6)
Troy (currently 4-3, Mississippi St. won by only 6 points)
South Alabama (currently 2-5)
Kentucky (currently 1-7)
Tennessee (currently 3-4)
Middle Tennessee (currently 4-3)

They may somehow be ranked 11th, but I don't think they've shown that they'll be anything like "a real test" for Alabama.

Good point. Duke Bowl-eligible is good. Seminoles in a BCS Bowl is better. But in a game for all the marbles?

Nunh-uh. No way. The only decent game they've played was against Clemson, after Clemson smashed an ice cream cone on their heads and yanked down their gym shorts in the locker room.

I give them respect. After all, if Ohio manages to go undefeated this season, it would be far more impressive than if Ohio State did the same thing. Besides, I saw somewhere that half the victories of non-AQ teams over AQ teams were the MAC.

I'm actually worried about this injury. It's not just that it "looked" bad, but the way in which his leg was "working" makes me worry that he may have done more damage than to ligaments or tendons. I'm hoping he has no damage to his blood vessels (a Bo Jackson-like injury to his knee, for example) or deep interior structural damage.

I'll admit that it took kiddy rape to make me root for tOSU against anyone. I think my hatred for tOSU is rational in that Kent State competes for resources from the state and when the football team is good tOSU is even more of a sacred cow.

I dunno, he seemed genuinely ashamed and angry about the OU game.

He needs to get his coaches and players by the scruff of the neck and shake them until jobs and scholarships fall off the weaklings. It may take a season or two, but I don't know that he has that much time.

I got a picture of it, and there's so much damage I wondered if that might be the best course to avoid blood pooling and such. Not sure if what I got made it to the TV feed, but it looks like maybe it was on a side feed or something because there's a score scrool at the bottom. If anyone wants to post it, I'll e-mail to them, but I can't myself because I can't figure it out on the new phone.

For some reason I was thinking the 'Noles were going to have some problems with Duke, since the Blue Devils have the best quarterback in the ACC and their ace running back Chris Thompson was out with an injury. He wasn't over the line of scrimmage? I think that should be a penalty.

2012-10-27 05:12:38 PM

bulldg4life: Slog: bel4sucks: I don't know why these announcers are giving Murray such shiat, the first two picks were pinball types.

The first one was thrown into triple coverage - he had pretty much no chance to complete that pass. The second wasn't that bad - just thrown behind the receiver a bit and knocked up in the air.

All three have been stupid decisions (which is the biggest thing)

The second one wasn't a bad decision - the receiver was open, and had a shot at the end zone. He just missed the throw.

The first and third were pretty awful, though.

And now an illegal forward pass. Huh.

2012-10-27 05:12:47 PM
Of course

Let's stay unbeaten, K-State! Beat Buddy Holly Tech.

Don't get me wrong I like KSU, hell I even graduated from there, but they are epic in the way they fark up. They have a talent of getting a light schedule, blowing out the polls and getting nice rankings then going really high into a bowl and losing in dramatic fashion. That program has perfected the art of the let down and disappointment.

That happened once, so thanks for your comments.

That happened once?

Please refresh yourself on the failure that is their bowl games

"Getting a light schedule, getting nice rankings, losing in dramatic fashion"

That happened once, in 1998. The rest of the time we've been the underdog and the Big XII is a tough conference.

Keep on with the trololol.

I say that because Robin Ventura dislocated his leg and ankle and when he did it everybody though it was badly broken and his career was done. But it was only dislocated and he ended up coming back the next season. So if it is dislocated it is not as bad, but I doubt he will be coming back to football, and if he does he won't be the same type of running back.

Well, it comes down to that if you have a really kickass defense.

Seriously, UF turned it over 6 times, never had any offense going, and they still allowed only 17 points. That's an unbelievable job by the defense.

I don't mind it... Miller has a decent enough arm... but he doesn't have the downfield vision to throw on the move with any kind of consistency. I don't know if that is an experience thing or what... or if it can be coached. Till then, he should just continue to show us exactly how gifted he is from the waist down. we have some friends who took some window chalk and decorated their ride with stuff like "go Notre Dame" "Cream the Sooners"
I talked to this buddy of mine and asked him why all the hate on OU. Well, he does like football but in his opinion there are lots of storied programs out there that also focus on academics as much as athletics and he feels that neither of the two big Oklahoma schools do that.
Anyway where we live at is maybe 30 miles from Norman. They have had two notes left on their windshield, one simply said, "OU will crush Notre Dame" the other the guy left his number and said, "wanna bet? $50 says OU wins, call me"

I like football but from September into January, people who normally are great to be around become assholes.

/My wife says KFOR will ban me from their facebook page because they ran a story about Bob Barry Jr. getting hurt. I said I was going to post he sprained his wrist trying to dig up Bob Barry Sr. to rebury him in the Pet Cemetery.
//you have to bury your own.

correct me if i am wrong, but I thought the QB was the one who calls for the snap and all the center does is hike the ball. I say this cause the wife is bashing Landry and I am like wait a minute that dumbass at center takes direction from the QB he just can't go throwing that ball willy nilly

I'm super concerned how we start so slow. I'm not sure if we just can't get going in the first 2 or 3 quarters or if it just takes that long to wear down the other team.

That is very similar to the reason Alabama has an elephant as their mascot.

Copy/pasta from Yahoo Answers:

On October 8, 1930, sports writer Everett Strupper of the Atlanta Journal wrote a story of the Alabama-Mississippi game he had witnessed in Tuscaloosa four days earlier. Strupper wrote, "That Alabama team of 1930 is a typical Wade machine, powerful, big, tough, fast, aggressive, well-schooled in fundamentals, and the best blocking team for this early in the season that I have ever seen. When those big brutes hit you I mean you go down and stay down, often for an additional two minutes.

"Coach Wade started his second team that was plenty big and they went right to their knitting scoring a touchdown in the first quarter against one of the best fighting small lines that I have seen. For Ole Miss was truly battling the big boys for every inch of ground.

"At the end of the quarter, the earth started to tremble, there was a distant rumble that continued to grow. Some excited fan in the stands bellowed, 'Hold your horses, the elephants are coming,' and out stamped this Alabama varsity.

"It was the first time that I had seen it and the size of the entire eleven nearly knocked me cold, men that I had seen play last year looking like they had nearly doubled in size."

Strupper and other writers continued to refer to the Alabama linemen as "Red Elephants," the color referring to the crimson jerseys.

Did he throw behind the line of scrimmage or behind the first down marker. Because you didn't specify that and by the way you were complaining I assumed he threw behind the first down line.

Also throwing to a check down behind the line of scrimmage isn't always a bad idea because there is a chance he can make something happen.

How many played football?

Well, it really doesn't matter, noting that one of the most gifted athlete-scholars of the last decade went to Florida State, of all places. Cherry-picked stats are just that... and I can think of at least one good reason why one shouldn't use Merit Scholarships as a barometer for anything (nor raw numbers, considering how many of the best universities have relatively small student populations).

And by no means am I saying anything negative about about OU academics.

So, from what I understand, it acceptable to remove rushing TD when it is concerning ND? First the Stanford TD in OT that was not allowed because of...something. And now the TD by Bell that was pulled because of holding by...somebody and let us not forget that that call was late and not even announced by the referee and not thrown by the umpire (I believe) who is usually charged with doing so. Next to this potential record, an asterisk would seem appropriate, methinks, every time they show that during a show.

SevenizGud: ongbok: Actually what I said was right. Just admit that your love of OK and the fact they are being beat and their offense has been ineffective has made you ignorant to how football is played.

Yeah 14 first downs for OU versus 6 for ND. That's ineffective. Your mastery of football is amazing.

If the game was won by how many first downs you get, then I would say you are right. OU's offense has been ineffective to this point because they haven't been able to get the ball in the endzone and their drives have been stalling out.

Yeah ND has been ineffective but their offense isn't that good. ND lives on their defense. However their offense is going to have to find away to score because their defense isn't good enough to hold OU to 6.

I enjoy that, out of all of the things I stated, you only had a comment about that. And I'll just state that I want a citation on the per capita aspect of the stat suggesting you're right, noting that OU is not necessarily a small university.

I'll be fine if that's wrong, for the fact that I have criticisms about the scholarship itself, ergo whether or not it's a per capita stat is meaningless because I criticize the mere mention of its use in supporting the school.

Incidentally, I enjoy Oklahoma commercials, too. I just know there are other ways to measure the quality of the university, and it is a quality university in many respects.

Jesus Christ. Here we go with the Refs are on ND's side. What do you think happened on that play? Do you think that the "Higher Authority" radioed the ref on the field and told him to throw the flag? Or maybe it could be that the ref threw the flag late because he saw the holding and was waiting to see if the ref who's responsibility it was to watch that part of the field threw a flag, and when he didn't he threw his flag? The replay showed that it was a hold.

With ND, it really doesn't matter what the replay shows. I think that was the point.

/of course, the other point is that the replay always shows holding... on every play, by every team

Holding, just like on every other play in football. Yes. No. And, refer to my first answer.

And honestly, lighten up, Francis. Complaining about the refs is what is supposed to happen when they make a call that anyone disagrees with. What, you've never biatched about a call and maybe, just maybe, thought that they could possibly be in the pocket of the opposing team and cherry-picked information to bolster said thought? 'Tis the American Way!!

And as I point out the whole thread, the drives stall out because of stupid play calling. If you throw an incompletion one first, on your own 25, you don't come back with run up the middle on 2nd. This is especially true when the other team has shown that it can't stop the 7 yard pass until the field is shortened (red zone) where the safeties can come in and play short support.

But it won't matter. The zebras are going to win this game for ND just like they did for Oregon in the famous onside kick game.

I predict 2 more TDs by OU negated by zebras due to holding calls, or if passes, due to unsportsman like conduct - beating ND the call.

Been too busy with storm prep to post, but that Florida fumble at the end of the game...no one said it, but that kid was carrying the ball VERY carelessly as he made that run. One hand, swinging it out to his side. Should have tucked it. Football basics.

And with that fumble, he may have cost the Gators the SEC East, the SEC Championship, and a chance at BCS.
