I can't get mad at teams for trading a guy for draft picks who they know that if they keep them until the end of their contract, they will get nothing.

This is the part I disagree with. Are a few draft picks in the mid-teens worth giving up a shot at a championship? Take your chances on him walking at the end of his contract and go for it while you can.

See that is were an organization has to make a decision. Are you going to be one and done, or are you going to sacrifice a probable championship year for 3 or 4 years of possible championship years. It's a tough choice and free agency, which is a good thing in my opinion, has made it so.

Are the next few years still probable championship years without Harden, though? We've seen what OKC looks like in late game situations without him, and it's a whole lot of Westbrook and Durant doing low-percentage iso stuff. Maybe I'm wrong, and they can continue to contend with this new roster, but I think that OKC is going to be remembered like the mid-2000s Suns- good team, but shot themselves in the foot by letting a talented shooting guard go and never managed to put it all together afterward. Dallas elected to let Chandler go, forgoing a one-year title shot to focus on the years after that. How's that working out for them? You think Cuban wouldn't want that back?

I hate to say it, but this year's Alabama team is probably the best college team of all time. Seriously, this is 1995 Nebraska territory.

True. This is Alabama's first SEC win against a good SEC team, so there's still much to be played.

But, goddamn.

I really hope it's not Notre Dame against Alabama in the NCG. I hate Notre Dame so much and I'm still mad about Bama getting that second shot last year.

So, we could theoretically have Alabama, Oregon, Kansas State, and Notre Dame finish the season undefeated. Obviously Notre Dame gets left out in that scenario, but one of either KSU or Oregon is going to get ROBBED.

Hmmmm. I surprised that there isn't anybody claiming that the refs cheated OU.

But on a real note, ND has two trap games coming up and a battle with USC to end the season, so I doubt they will finish in a place to be in the NC, so the haters can rest with the talk of the refs gave the game to ND.

puffy999: video man: This is Alabama's first SEC win against a good SEC team

Not really. If Alabama can keep these margins and win out, I'll say they're the GOAT CFB team. However, Miss St.'s ranking was really inflated by the fact that all of their wins were against 3 Sun Belt teams, and FCS nobody, and the 3 worst teams in the SEC. I'd say their first true test will probably be Texas A&M. How much of the magnitude in their numbers is Alabama being good vs. the opponents being bad still gives me the Boise St. feeling about Alabama.

See like I said, it is a gamble. You know you will have a probable, but not certain, championship year with him next year, but you will lose him for nothing after that, and will suffer. You trade him and you get a few draft picks to try to replace him with a few people and also add some more depth to the team. So what do you do?

So it comes down to the two bulls story. A father bull and his son were grazing on a hill when they saw a field of heifers down below. The son bull looks at the father bull, and says "Hey pops, lets run down there and fark one of those heifers." the father bull looks to the son and says "I got a better idea, lets walk down there and fark all of those heifers."

So it really comes down to whether or not you are going to try to win one year, and worry about things after that, or try to position yourself to win for the next few years. Both are a gamble I in a perfect world the fans would want both, but that isn't going to happen. That is why it sucks for fans because you lose a fan favorite and lessen the chances of a championship that year for the possibility of winning down the road.

ongbok: SevenizGud: ongbok: Actually what I said was right. Just admit that your love of OK and the fact they are being beat and their offense has been ineffective has made you ignorant to how football is played.

Yeah 14 first downs for OU versus 6 for ND. That's ineffective. Your mastery of football is amazing.

If the game was won by how many first downs you get, then I would say you are right. OU's offense has been ineffective to this point because they haven't been able to get the ball in the endzone and their drives have been stalling out.

Yeah ND has been ineffective but their offense isn't that good. ND lives on their defense. However their offense is going to have to find away to score because their defense isn't good enough to hold OU to 6.

Wow was I wrong about this. ND actually played a good game on offense and their defense did a fantastic job at keeping OU's offense ineffective. I wasn't expecting this.

But I feel sorry for SevenizGud's wife. You know this guy is so butthurt after this game, if he is married or has a girlfriend, she is in danger. Either that or he is going to convince himself that the Refs were in ND's pocket.

Yes, I'm mistaking my hatred of a team that has traditionally been overrated over the past few years for envy. I envy a team that has fallen apart season after season and hasn't been relevant since the 1980s.

Oh, don't worry, the prior Beaver drive ended in pretty much the same way, but then hilarity ensued and Washington had about 30 penalty yards.
