I live in the ghetto and have a registered Basset Hound that everyone wants to play with. If my house ever gets broken in to what scares me the most is someone taking my dog. I would burn the entire neighborhood down to get him back.

Oh, you don't say. You're not going to stop breeding dogs? I can't believe that they're not stopping getting $4000 a pop for 3 litters a year, that is just insane. They should really take some time off from letting their dogs procreate and profit from it, it must be so exhausting for them after this trauma. The only thing crazier would be for people to go and adopt a pet that already exists.

Pre-emptive retaliation. Burn the ghetto down before they take your dog. Its the safest way.

I know the feeling. Both of my dogs are known among the neighborhood kids. If anyone took them, I'd be kicking down doors till I found them.

FTA: "I couldn't think of selling him right now," Steele said. "People are calling and asking but I've told them I couldn't deal with that right now. I think it would be too traumatic for him too."

I can understand getting the shakes after being robbed at gunpoint. However, you can't put human characteristics like these emotions on dogs. He probably had no idea what was going on. Dogs (especially puppies) don't dwell on things like this anyway. And, look, he apparently got all the crayons he could eat.

I may have read the article wrong but I thought I read they had 18 adults so they probably rotate the ones breeding, I was ready to scream puppy mill but 3 liters a year with so many adults means they are doing it better than most.

I've had a trend of dognappings happen in my town. They take them and sell them elsewhere for good cash. Dogs can give up to several grand.

No, a puppy mill would have had 12-15 litters per year with 18 adults, and most places near the city will not allow it because of the smell.

Puppy mills are horrendous and people who run them should be shot.

Dayamn.. $4000 for a DOG?!? Amazes me people would pay that much for a dog. Personally a cat person (grew up with ONLY dogs; was not allowed to have cats until I moved out on my own and still had only dogs until a freak flood put mice and rats in our neighborhood and I finally got a cat. Once I saw the difference, I got rid of the stupid dog and never considered getting one ever again). Although I would NEVER sell one of my cats for $4000, I would never pay even $100 to BUY a cat (well, maybe one of those Scottish Folds... maybe)

But, if you can sell them for $4000.. more power to them.. and, after seeing that price tag, damned straight I would fight the asshole with the gun. After I JUST remodeled bathroom and price for the job DOUBLED almost exactly on what was expected, money is tight... push that gun out of the way and go all OZZY on his neck then tell the cops I was in shock and thought he was a bat.

/amazed police did anything

Bullpups are anything with the receiver/magazine housing built into the stock, behind the trigger. Full-length barrel, but shorter overall length. Can think of only three shotguns like that off the top of my head. *end threadjack*

TFA said the dogs were $4,000 for Harpo (the one stolen) and Rambo, not $4k/each. Two grand is still too much for a puppy, purebred or not.

They aren't puppies forever! Call Rent-A-Dog that's 1-800-RENT-A-DOG for the best in short term dog rentals. Because everyone loves puppies. But not everyone loves dogs.

Think dogs are expensive, wait until you meet someone with children. Now THAT'S a waste of good money! Never ends, too. Even as they age it's always something, what with education, wedding costs, helping them when they come up short on bills. I'm looking into a Rent-A-Baby start up. I've met plenty of mothers that neither wanted children nor did they have any clue how to raise them. They just wanted cute chubby babies. That's 1-800-RENT-A-BABY.

---- There is a 20-something douchebag in my town with stupid chin whiskers and a hooded sweat jacket that takes an adorable herd of Dachshund out for walks. White boy tries to look dangerous, hip and edgy by wearing the hood of his hooded sweat jacket up over his head in perfectly fine weather. Sorry for the massive fail, hoodie boy. When I was your age friends would have kicked your ghey ass for even uttering a phrase like 'hoodie'. Dooshbag.

In 30 years $3000 will get you a golden retriever puppy with the same temperament reshaped exactly like a huge arctic timber wolf, in black, white, any other wolf color, golden retriever gold, or a range of tasteful pastel colors to accompany the decor.

FTA:
He called three times on Friday and sounded like he was trying to disguise his voice," Pat Steele, 62, said by phone today. "He had a restricted number and that was a red flag to us but he used a name and when we checked the name online, it came up clean."

The suspect fled with the 9-pound Harpo but the Steeles had a key piece of evidence, the license plate number from his car that Steele told her husband to write down because she had a gut feeling something wasn't right.

They knew something was not right so obviously you do exactly nothing different with the exchange. Don't bring protection, don't bring a younger more fit relative, don't bring a bigger more intimidating dog(not saying that a bigger dog would have been much help against a gun but still...) and for god's sake don't tell the man to meet you in front of the local police station for the exchange. No a deserted parking lot should be just fine. Remember, just get the plate number before you're held at gunpoint. Smart ones, these two...

Being familar with bulldog puppies, the puppy was probably just thinking "DERP. Derp derp derp. Derrrrrrrrrrrp" the whole time.

Bullpup refers to the design where the action is behind the trigger, and can be a rifle or shotgun. It has a shorter stock, and allows the firearm to be shorter, but still have the same barrel length. It also makes the weapon lighter.

Here's an idea, dumbass breeders: screen your buyers. A farking google check is worthless. When I adopted my dog, I got a home visit, had to give three personal references, and a vet reference before I was allowed to even see a dog (and the rescue checked all the references). That was to adopt an adult dog from rescue for $400.

If I were a breeder that gave a rat's ass about my puppies, I wouldn't let anyone near them until a similar check had been done at a MINIMUM. The fact they were willing to go to a parking lot with nothing more than a name and phone number tells me all I need to know about the quality of these breeders. Last thing I'd want is a pup from these guys and since they don't want the buyer to know where they live, I'm willing to bet those pups are a genetic health nightmare.

bullpup is a layout not a type of gun. You can have bullpup rifles or shotguns
