Romney was never around for the last two years of his governorship. A March 2005 poll found that only 32 percent felt Romney should be re-elected if he ran for a second term as governor. It got worse. In 2006, Romney spent 212 days out of state, campaigning.

A Republican grumbled that Romney was never there:

"He was basically never here," says Kilduff, a Republican who says she was annoyed when Romney poked fun at Massachusetts and also when he swooped in to take over the Big Dig project after a woman was killed in a tunnel accident.

"I don't think anyone should be micromanaging when they're not here."
Romney told the Boston Globe that he was giving up on party building, "From now on, it's me-me-me."

That's all we can expect him to be if elected. President me-me-me.

He was a unifying bipartisan figure in Massachusetts; both Democrats and Republicans loathed him as a total zero.

That's what I got from the second debate:
A bipartisan committee wrote the health care bill I just signed it (possibly after trying to veto it).
A bipartisan committee wrote the assault rifle ban, I just signed it (possibly after trying to veto it).
A bipartisan group brought me a binder full of women, and I still reduced the number of women holding positions in my cabinet regardless.

See what a great bipartisan champion I was?

His attempt to reinstate the death penalty in Massachusetts was especially intelligent.

Well, his near-complete rejection by the Massachusetts legislature was pretty bipartisan. Which is nice.

What you libtards don't understand is that it's okay to abrogate your Constitutional rights, like enacting gun control, so long as it's done in a bipartisan fashion.

Sure he was a bipartisan governor. A democratic legislature will reach across the aisle, republicans won't. That's no accomplishment on his part.

2012-10-26 07:03:46 PM
Romney accomplished in 4 years what it took Bush 8 years to accomplish: a 33% job approval rating. He's trying to fail upwards into the office of the presidency. But, hey, not a Democrat, so no one cares.

Because we've entered the stage of the election where it's too late to be effectively tossed under the bus. Either he wins and it's a coin-flip that anyone decide to focus on such-and-such comment that someone made, or he loses and you'd have to be the guy who showed a video of Mittens getting a blowjob from transsexual terrorist communists to get any major hate-eyes directed at you.

I guess group us in with Obama... it would have been a pretty good counter to Mitt's "I was a bi-partisan governor" bullshiat during the debates.

It's amazing what this country has become. By amazing, I mean horrifying. Romney/RNC just admitting their plan is to lie their way to the presidency.

In their book Game Change, journalists John Heilemann and Mark Halperin write that during the 2008 primary, Huckabee groused, "I don't think Romney has a soul." That's one of the most damning charges a former Baptist minister can level, and it sums up their bitter fight fairly accurately.

No, I do not believe so.

2012-10-26 07:30:42 PM
I don't know what the split is like in Mass legislature, but if 91% of his vetos were being overturned he was being very bipartisan. He was pissing off both sides.

Just like Palin.

She was the master of bipartisanship in Alaska, so much so that the Republicans and Democrats in the Senate formed a coalition, with the majority Republicans giving leadership to the minority Democrats.

And just like Palin, as the article notes, Romney gave up.

Are there any Romney voting moderate fark republicans that could please explain to me why they are choosing to vote for Mitt? I'm really asking because I haven't seen too many people (any really) that self describe as a moderate replublican and are voting Romney? This could just be confirmation bias though.

Then again, to the GOP, "seems" is all they have to go on. It seems like Obama was born in Kenya, and it seems like he's a Marxist, and it seems like he wants to take away all the guns, and it seems like...

I think it's because moderate Republicans are actually Democrats.

How is stating Romney is bi-partisan (according to him not me), he vetoed 800 bills as Governor and the also bi-partisan legislature overturned those vetoes 707 times anti-romney? If your argument is that the facts make Romney look bad, you've already lost the argument.
