Perducci: Imagine how tiny this guy's penis must be.

Maybe he just likes building cars. Maybe he only runs on tracks, or on restricted roads. I wasn't imagining his penis but hey, whatever revs your engine.

farkstorm: poodebunker: Yeah...wondering why we need a car that goes 220 mph?

He has to be at the gym in 26 2 minutes . . .

Big farking deal. So a gasoline powered car goes fast. And for what it's worth, that's really not that fast relatively speaking. And, it's a farking piece of shiat gm product. American made cars haven't impressed me since the late sixties.

Here's a much more impressive display of speed.

Some people just can't live their days without trying to think of ways to mentally measure another guy's junk. Some guys like boats, some like fast cars, some are penis imaginers.

It's for the same reason certain types of people want to own pit bull terriers and firearms. Because they think it shows everyone how manly they are.

So, if it's to show how manly they are, how come my wife is the one who bought more than half the guns we own?

Repo Man: MadMattressMack: Rapmaster2000: meerkat: Did that shifter seem incredibly clunky to anybody else, like 3 discrete steps between gears...?

I think when you have to handle that much power with sub-Ferrari prices and technology, lightness and fluidity go out the window.

I think I'd have more fun in this 1,200 hp car in sub Ferrari prices:

That car is very cool.

When it comes to hitting 220, this Camaro makes it a little more exciting. Big Red Camaro: Driving Fast & Taking Chances

Indeed. And I think it looks better doing it.

The CTS-V is a pretty decent car, though is would be better done with the wagon variant that the coupe. Pretty fast in a straight line and around a track for what is more of a GT car than a sports car. The corvette is the world beating sports car if you want a GM.

Thats aid, hennessey is a pretty well known scam artist in the automotive community. There have been multiple allegations of theft of parts from customer cars and all around sketchiness.

An old article but the complaints have been numerous

Jail.

Look at me, I can go fast on a closed straight highway where I take up two lanes. I'm such a race driver HURR HURRRRR

TexasPeace: It was irresponsible to permit this with all the other vehicles on the other side of the highway.

I cringed when I saw that big line of parked cars a few yards off the road. A car doing 200+ miles per hour, especially one with so much weight several feet off the pavement, is trying very, very hard to become airborne, and is going to fly a really good distance, dispensing metal, rubber, gasoline, and motor oil similar to a small jet crashing into a mountainside. Did I see passenger traffic on the other side of the highway? The DPS usually has better judgement than this; if it's one of those "stupid but legal" things, they are being f**king stupid with my tax dollars for not only being involved, but being videotaped putting a cop in a position that would get you an instant lifetime ban from any racetrack in the US.

The tollway only opened last week. This would have been a wonderful event to arrange a few days before. Hennessy makes some really cool cars, and I don't blame them for stupidity, jesus christ Dewhurst, let someone else foot the tab next time.

emersonbiggins: It'd be a lot more fun to pace one of these between San Antonio and Austin

[www.spain-holiday.com image 460x276]

It'd be fun, but it would never realistically get above 75 unless it was an express train only. Too many good sized towns in the middle that would likely be train stops for the commuters (Garden Ridge/Selma/Schertz/Cibolo, New Braunfels, San Marcos, Kyle, Buda). Now if Cap Metro in Austin actually had a worthwhile bus network than the sorry excuse for what they have now, I could see commuter rail actually being useful.

Civil_War2_Time: Worthless road for cars.

BUT, great for truckers wanting to bypass SA and Austin coming in from I-10 east trying to avoid the I-35 gridlock.

/Brilliant

Pretty much, although "Trucks will pay multiples of that up 75 cents a mile, depending on the number of axles." could add up on a 90 mile stretch of highway, if it's used a regular truck route. (Source: Austin American Statesman ) I'm not even sure how fast the average 18 wheeler sucks up diesel at a higher rate of speed, anyone got any ideas?

My opinion on it, now that I've driven the entire length, is that it is essentially a fun speed run through nowhere. You don't see a lot of civilization, especially along the Mustang Ridge to Seguin route (except Lockhart, I suppose), so it doesn't seem to serve much purpose for the average commuter as CW stated. You end up a good 30 or so miles east of the San Antonio city limits, so you have to factor in that if you have to get across town. San Antonio isn't two shacks and a Dairy Queen, it's pretty darned big.

I might be proven wrong in 25 years (assuming folks start developing Guadalupe, Caldwell and far SE Travis Counties), but SH-130 for me is a fun to drive waste of money.

Is John Hennessey somehow a respectable businessman now? Look up 'Hennessey Lawsuit' or 'Hennessey meltdown'.

I wouldn't trust that guy with a picture of my car.

Texas World Speedway, MSR Houston, Grandsport Speedway, Circuit of The Americas, Motorsports Ranch, I'm sure there's a few places I've missed.

One of those with an unlimited road next to it, of course make it a very expensive toll road

I had an engine built for my old '79 vette about 10 years ago at a shop in Horseshoe Bay, TX and the main mechanic there had come over from Hesnessey a few months before. I remember him always bad mouthing them and saying that they screw their customers bad. That he couldn't work there with a clear conscious.

I just thought he couldn't hack it there and had to leave. After reading about that I feel pretty bad for thinking that way about him.

love it but $200K+ is a lot to spend for an extra 50-60mph that will destroy your warranty and engine...

How much faster would it go if it wasn't composed entirely of right angles? It looks like a Prius with a body kit.

As an old Texan, there is something about this story that just makes me all tingly and happy.

Wishing I had a Caddy. I'd haul ass in it, wearing a big old blue beehive with a ciggy dangling from the corner of my mouth.

What? You guys put a toll road in Texas?

What assholes you have become. Fark the whole lot of you. You let your State sell you out like that.

It clearly says they did this on the 23rd, and two seconds on google says the road was open on the 24th. Your whole post is a bunch of panicky hand wringing over nothing.
