reklamfox: FreakinB: I live on the south shore of Long Island (a block from the water), I commute to work in Manhattan, and my girlfriend's place is inland in NJ but right next to a river. So I could be super farked if this storm is bad.People keep saying this may be like the 1991 storm. I was 5 years old in 1991 so I don't remember it.I was also 5 when that storm hit. I remember looking out our living room window 3ft off the ground and the snow was right up to the screen. We couldn't get out the door, so we all climbed out the window. It was cool!
SlothB77: Sandy wasn't enough, they had to go out and give the storm another, more hyperbolic name.
Friskya: TrollingForColumbine: If people are snowed in or without power for a long time how could this effect the election? The republicans will lift themselves up by their bootstraps and trudge off through the snow to cast their ballots. The democrats will sit at home, whining about why hasn't Obama sent busses, cabs, boats, trailers, and dog sleds to pick them up and take them to the balloting station. /and bring them home again
Blargosaurus: I guess the gales of November are coming early.
Satanic_Hamster: Side tangent: Two of my co-workers are talking about this right now.Being Texas, they're hoping the storm will be so bad that it will "keep the liberals from voting."
LOTN: TheraTx: [anythingbutmyjob.files.wordpress.com image 850x476]Cat, your hat unfurled.
Trapper439: AlwaysRightBoy: I'm going out 25 miles tomorrow at 4am to fill my freezer with striper meat... Bring it on mother nature./they're killing at the Monster ledge!Way ahead of you. I already have several freezers full of stripper meat.
AlwaysRightBoy: I'm going out 25 miles tomorrow at 4am to fill my freezer with striper meat... Bring it on mother nature./they're killing at the Monster ledge!
CheapEngineer: Throw that same storm at North Carolina, or Mississippi, and it's "meh." A cloud heads for New York or DC and the entire country must stop what it's doing and join in prayer for those who may get *moist*.The Midwest gets tornadoes and massive snowstorms and all you see on the news is "What do they expect? They live in the country's crotch! Who's on Idol this week? "\whats worse, I have never lived in a state that anyone bothers to campaign in, or the primaries are already decided by the time I see a voting booth\\In Kansas right now, where my D vote is for Entertainment Uses Only\\\f y'all is right (grumble)
buzzcut73: Mainly because the forecasts go out over systems that are older than most of us and they only render caps. Things like telefax, and TTY. They've tried to get rid of those systems, but the uproar that happens every time they have keeps them online.
AngryJailhouseFistfark: Warthog: HotIgneous Intruder: In June, el derecho blew our plastic kiddie pool to points unknown. The derecho knocked out our power for 24 hours. My ice cream all melted. Fark the derecho.El Derecho farked up my house, dropping a large tree on it.
probesport: The hottest storm in New York this year is called Frankenstorm, it has everything.
SANDY'S GONNA ROCK YOU!!!!
H31N0US: MelGoesOnTour: I'm in the South of Florida and we've been getting some pretty good wind for the past few days and the storm is no where near us. I feel bad for the easterner's who aren't used to a REAL storm and might likely blow it off (no pun) and be unprepared.Dude, we get storms. Hurricanes even. Right now I am trying to figure out how to wire a generator to my gas burner so I will still have heat if the power goes out. Which it will, for days...
TrollingForColumbine: If people are snowed in or without power for a long time how could this effect the election?
