Girion47: Good, destroy the shiat out of the DC Metro area. All of those entitled pricks have it coming.

Speaking as an inhabitant of the DC Metro area, go fark yourself. We had a week without power after the derecho in July, and I don't care to repeat the experience.

MelGoesOnTour: I'm in the South of Florida and we've been getting some pretty good wind for the past few days and the storm is no where near us. I feel bad for the easterner's who aren't used to a REAL storm and might likely blow it off (no pun) and be unprepared.

Luckily, I lived in FL for 15 years and moved up to New England last November. I'll probably be one of the few calm ones in a 50 mile radius!

/Bottled water, restock on vital meds, stock up on food that doesn't need to be heated, get some cash out.

All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets.

Shadow Blasko: Of course I meant GFS. Oh well

GFS hasn't had a good handle on Sandy over all. ECWMF has been the more accurate model this go-round, but they're all having trouble handling Sandy's extratropical transition in a couple of days. And the models are still out on how strong the trough plowing through the midwest will finally end up being as well as the strength of the ridge over the Atlantic. She's stuck between a rock and a hard place, it seems.

Hopefully the next few model runs will have things sorted out since all the WFOs are doing extra radiosonde launches and it looks like the NOAA Gulfstream Gonzo jet is out doing samples.

Friskya: TrollingForColumbine: If people are snowed in or without power for a long time how could this effect the election?

The republicans will lift themselves up by their bootstraps and trudge off through the snow to cast their ballots.

The democrats will sit at home, whining about why hasn't Obama sent busses, cabs, boats, trailers, and dog sleds to pick them up and take them to the balloting station.

/and bring them home again

I was thinking the old and infirm (republicans) would stay home cowering for fear of roaming snow vandals, and the young and hip (democrats) would ride their solar charged electric snow mobiles to vote.

To go to a relative's wedding next week I think I'm going to be driving down I-95 from VA to SC right through the teeth of this thing, my wife is probably going to get extremely annoyed at how often I hum Edmund Fitzgerald/Use my crusty sea captain voice and make reference to "a livin gale" or "that blow we ran into roundin' the horn" on this trip

strangeguitar: We're about 50 miles west of Philly, and I think we'll only get the outer bands of the storm. I really hope this doesn't fark up Halloween. This is the first year my 4 year old twins are really into the year's greatest holiday.

Yeah.. Good luck with that.

Lets run the current GDF and see where that gets you..

Being Texas, they're hoping the storm will be so bad that it will "keep the liberals from voting."

Yeah, they are CUMMING HARD over this.. I've already heard storm of the century, BILLIONS AND BILLIONS worth of damage.... The sensationalism is on full herpa derp mode for a storm that is still south of Florida and will barely be a cat 1 by the time it gets here.

Unlike last years Halloween surprise that left us without power for 11 days, at least we're getting a little warning this time. Hopefully the last one wiped out enough trees near my power lines, and the wind will knock the rest of the leaves off that were collecting so much snow last time.

Just ran the Generator for 10 minutes to make sure she'll fire the first time. Glad I did, it took a bit of effort to get it going again. Kerosene and Gasoline run tomorrow.
