The hell is that tattoo?

That's this 'tank' guy? I didn't know tanks were all soft and pudgy.

I'm a Cowboys fan who lives in the middle of Steelers/Giants/Eagles country. Any time I go to a bar I for a game I catch shiat for other fans. It's almost always good natured though. I have only had one time where a guy was just being a complete jackoff about it and everyone around him just belittled him for doing so.

Most fans of any team are good people and realize it's only a game. it's those very vocal few who give fans of a specific team a bad name.

Which is why I'm not just going to hear one side of the story, that plays up the "protecting your freedoms" angle as much as possible, and assume that it's 100% legit. Yeah, there are assholes out there, but the vast majority of trash talk is good-natured. I've worn opponent jerseys in other towns before and had some people give me sh*t but if you just smile and say "yeah, yeah, whatever; good luck to your team," they don't go any farther. If they did, I would expect for something like your story about everyone belittling him.

I think it's much more likely that he was talking sh*t back. As a veteran, I hate when people hide behind the archetype of noble defender of freedom. There's nothing particularly noble about the vast majority of people in the military.

I bet he still thinks Cam Newton is an elite quarterback too. I hope somebody has a way to forward this thread to that bar. Thatd be great.

Weigard: Lucky LaRue: To be fair, here in Panther country, we are a little sensitive about being the laughing stock of the NFL.

There is no "Panther country," just a bunch of monied hillbillies waiting for college basketball season to start.

This. The team is like 15 years old. Panthers fans are like any fair weather LA fans. Just as fickle, but twice as fat.

Exactly. I appreciate that the military is able to defend us if necessary, but I'm tired of them acting like I wouldn't be able to vote or read the paper if they weren't off looking for WMDs and Al Qaeda.

The comments on that article are depressing. They're offended a veteran would be treated this way, which I suppose technically, I do agree with. But shouldn't they be offended that anyone would be treated this way?

And honestly, Cowboys fans are treated terribly. If any of you think we're all assholes, stop and maybe wonder why? I've sat at a table in a bar IN DALLAS in which I was the only Cowboys fan & took shiat from all of them. Not friendly ribbing. Anger. People snidely ask me all the time why I'm a Cowboys fan. I farking live here? I went to a game a month ago & I still haven't posted the pictures on fb because I don't have time to deal with all of the shiat-talk that would come with it. It IS just a game. I rarely shiat-talk other people's teams (but the Eagles though, I mean really). When you treat people like garbage constantly, they're gonna react to that. Seems obvious enough. But this is the only place I really feel free to talk sports & support my team. I think that's pretty sad.

Meh, it is just fans being the boring douchebag asshole coonts that they are. Yes all fans of every sport are like this pretty much all the time. The only real answer is to ban professional sports, but hey why would we want to prevent morons from making owners and athletes rich?

And this, my love, is why after 13 years living in DFW I've never fully embraced the Cowboys. A lot of it is because I'll never, ever, abandon the Broncos, but a good portion is not wanting to put up with the BS that goes with being a Cowboys fan, either from the outside (as you describe) or having to wake up each morning wondering what pile of stupidity Jerry Jones is going to foist on me today.

With the internal angst built up by being a loyal Cowboys fan, plus whatever baggage he has left over from his experiences in the military, I would put even money that this guy could probably beat the everlovin' shiat out of that smarmy asshole...

Thats just the internet. Doncha call Philly fans filthy on a refular basis? i for one am pretty sure at least half of Atlanta fans couldnt prove they are human without a DNA test and half of those would yield mixed results.

I really do try my hardest to just tune him out, just as I do with Joe Buck. I only tune in when I really need something explained. I just really can't understand the derision. I'm a fan of this team. I'm not asking you to do the same. I'm not telling you to stop what you're doing & like my team. I just wanna wear my pretty blue stars. I want to hold my breath when Romo throws up a dragon. I want to punch my friend in the arm when DeMarco goes on a big run. I want to jump around like a fool when Witten catches it in the end zone. This is all I ask for. It's a game. I want to enjoy it. Shiat-talking is A part of it. It shouldn't be the MAIN part of it.

Yes, keep talking shiat about YOUR Saints, just like you do with YOUR Raiders. At this point, I'm surprised that you haven't claimed the Texans, saying that you were a fan since Carr was under center.

I agree with what you are saying though. I'm deep in the heart of Vikings Country (Though there are some Green Bay and Chicago fans here) and wearing a KC jersey into Buffalo Wild Wings or some sports bar for game day can be a tiresome event. I usually ignore the failed jocks who try to start shiat, but thankfully a buddy I usually hang out with for game day is a deputy sheriff. He has only had to flash his badge a couple of times over the last year and tell the drunken failures that unless they want to spend the rest of the weekend in jail, sit down and don't open their mouth again. I have to say watching the drunks faces go from a smirk to a pale white, wide-eyed stammer is priceless.

Raiders fan here....i live outside of Nashville and I went to a Titans game a few years back when they played us....I met a lot of raider fans, but naturally I sat around Titans fans.

One guy a few rows down kept ragging on us...he kept yelling "Marcus Allen isn't coming out that tunnel boys" and every so often changed it up with a former raider great. He spent at least $100 on bear as I know he drank 10 that I saw. I just laughed at him...told him of my hatred of Peyton Manning he seemed to approve......I did want yell Steve McNair ain't coming out that tunnel...but decided against it.

I have been in fisticuffs with several wheelchair bound "badasses", and let me tell you, it ain't as easy as it would seem to be to get the better of some sit down jerk. They think they are so strong, with their over muscled arms, and fancy sugar ray like wheelwork. I usually go for the head, because the last time I tried to flip this fella by the legs, he just gave me a sledgehammer like blow on the back of my head. That's pussy fighting where I come from. In the heat of that particular battle I lost my wits, and began biting the guys calf, expecting that scream you usually hear when biting a "walker". I learned a lot that day. Go for the head. Go for the head.

By the way. Just to clarify for our new pal Tank.

I was born 150 miles NW of Dallas. I have lived within that radius my entire life. I have been a Cowboys fan since 2001. I trudged through three 5-11 seasons, Head Coach Dave Campo, and the Quincy Carter era. Anyone calling me a bandwagon fan doesn't have a clue what a bandwagon is.
