"The problems started in 2002 when Steffanie was working for a brewery chain and fell up some stairs"

Lady, if you can't even abide by the simple farking rules of gravity, I'm not sure that anyone should feel sorry for you.

blatz514: So MRSA lead to her devastating car crash?

Well, either that, or she contracted a car crash.

I believe that's a very communicable disease.

Headline got the sequence wrong, but man, she's had a hard time. Puts my challenges in perspective.

Symptoms can be: drinking too much alcohol, texting or having sex while driving.

Well, she is lucky that she isn't in the USA with no insurance having all these things happen to her.

Also answers to the name "Lucky."

I fell up winding stairs once: lots of vodak.

Yes, this is clearly a tribute to the NHS and a stunning endorsement of government run healthcare

Hey - wasn't there some hottie amputee that was showing up as a meme or in pics a few years back?

Now the couple, who live close to Plymouth, have made it to the final five of a competition to win an all expenses-paid wedding.

That's an awful lot of stuff to go through just to win a free wedding.

That said, best wishes to the lady as she sure has been through a lot.

That is a one-legged mother of a problem all right. Any chance this'll turn into a stump-porn thread?

Why is it that someone that doesn't have all there limb, in accordance with God's love, able to drive without being impaired?

Seems to me, to be, the definition of impaired, possibly.

She was diagnosed with an infection and was treated with antibiotics. But the infection got worse and in February 2003 she was forced to have a below-the-knee amputation.

"After I lost my leg my eyes started deteriorating from the severe septicaemia," she added. In 2006 the mum-of-one was diagnosed with renal failure from ulcerations on her stump where she contracted MRSA.

It breaks my heart that had she had more competent health care provided to her, many of her troubles could have been avoided. The infection and amputation were completely preventable, hence the sepsis and MRSA she contracted later were also preventable.

They're not completely preventable. These things still happen in the last bastion of market-driven healthcare. But to think of the level of ineptitude that could allow this many near-fatal mistakes to be made on one person is just... I don't even
