Why not make it your home?

I mean, seriously. It's 110' by 82' and roughly three stories tall, on a 1:1 scale.

Anyone building that will have to be hand solo.

The Lucasfilm lawyers, that is. Oh, how they will come.

That project was cancelled half way through the initial planning run.

Finally, something to see in Tennessee.

How about an AT-AT?

I thought I read some time ago, you know, before the Internet and in a "fan mag" that the Marines or Army built one almost to scale for filming Empire.

A spaceship up on cinder blocks in your front yard? Yup, definitely Tennessee.

I think you would have to build that in Montana to get enough space. The thing is over a mile and a half long.

Tardis

My plan would be to live in a Dantooine enclave replica, with the Ebon Hawk parked in the garage.

A 1:1 scale build of an AT-AT would be a serious contender for the coolest thing ever built in the history of all humanity.

Does it count if I make it look like the Tardis landed next to the house, and in fact have it be my front door?

I'm not sure if you are referencing it, but that was tried about a year ago - Was stopped after Lucasfilm slapped them with a cease and desist.

http://atatforamerica.tumblr.com/

It sucks because it sets a new precedent for any project like this in the future. If anybody tries this they will most likely be cut down by intellectual property B.S.

I would love to organize something that would have the same broad appeal, but wouldn't be stopped because of legal concerns. But I have no idea what has the same coolness factor, while being immune to legal crap, any ideas? I have been wanting to start a project like this since I saw AT-AT had failed.

2012-10-25 12:29:55 PM
Lol. By the time they are done they will have put more effort into set building than Lucas did for the entire prequel trilogy.

Depends, do you have a pool in your house?

/if I suggested that to the wife, I could probably get her to say yes, just got her watching Doc Who, and she's in love with Tennet

A full-sized Serenity, Defiant or Talyn would be a great house to live in, but best would be to excavate a huge house out of a hillside, outfit it like the TARDIS interior and build a police box standing amongst trees and half-covered in vines and such, looking like it'd been there for centuries, as the entrance.

Also, RE: the MF being bigger inside -- so if you put the TARDIS inside the cargo bay, would it be like putting a portable hole in a bag of holding?

/Yes, I'm a nerd.
