WalkingCarpet: One Bad Apple: Maybe it's just the way the trailer is cut but there doesn't seem to be any comedy in this one

This is a remake of the first film, which wasn't a comedy. You're thinking of Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness.

I thought ED2 was a remake of ED1.

Yep. Misses the whole point of the first one, at least from this trailer's point of view.

Bored Horde: Cabin in the Woods didn't end horror movies, it savaged the cabin in the woods genre and the audience who enables it. It's an equal part fark you to the senior production team and to the audience. Everyone is a victim in the process - the actors, the production team, the directors - victimizing themselves to please the almighty viewers.

I completely disagree. That film was the definition of "affectionate parody." It was to horror what Galaxy Quest is to Star Trek.

I noticed that to. Without the comedy it's really Evil Dead.

And Bruce Campbell's shoes will be tough to fill.

Kangaroo_Ralph: Damn, Whedon was right. Cabin in the Woods was the horror movie to end all horror movies.

All that aside, I will watch this, the millionth prequel to CitW, with vim and vigor.

Great horror movies are important cathartic devices. There's nothing wrong with making a horror movie, but after Whedon's desconstruction you've got some brass to release exactly the kind of film that he savaged. Let the cabins rot quietly, unless you have something new to offer.

FeedTheCollapse: Tyler Perry's Tyler Perry Fark Account: All this talk of ED and no tree rape?

Don't recall ED1 being this gory... guess I have to pull out the DVDs.

/groovy.

ED is pretty gory, though this movie looks even more so.

ED was considered gory for when it was released. I think it was even banned a few places for being too violent.

Wolf892: This movie looks like a cheap rip off of the stuff they did in "Cabin in the woods" right down to the trap door in the floor and reading evil incantations from a book. Lame movie ripoff is lame.

The original Evil Dead stood out to me, it was unique. This one just seems generic, like it could be any other horror movie. It doesn't look bad, it just doesn't look like it has the specialness of the original.

Really? I remember the comedy in 2 being more over the top, but I thought there was still some dark comedy in 1. I could've sworn a number of "jokes" were recycled from 1 to 2. I mean, Evil Dead 2 was really more of a remake than a sequel. Could be wrong though. I've only seen Evil Dead 1 once.
