Kuta: Where's Sarah Palin's outrage?

heh....where has SP been at all? She has made a peek out or two recently, but oddly silent otherwise as of late.

Or maybe people (read: Fox News) finally got fed up of her one-trick-political-pony. If so, finally some common sense in politics.

Good riddance.

+1. Let's not imply that we want Sarah Palin to say anything. Even if that's not what you're implying, if we say her name enough times she might appear in the bathroom mirror after midnight.

Baloney. Nobody was talking about Ann Colter when she made the tweet. Lack of attention doesn't make her go away. It makes her double down.

Coulter was fired from MSNBC when she told the president of the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, himself a disabled Vietnam veteran, "No wonder you guys lost." He had misquoted a report that he said showed that 90% of all American casualties were the result of American land mines. Coulter replied "No wonder you guys lost" because his accusation was so ridiculous.

I stopped using it a few days ago. Well at least I'm trying my best to, it still pops in my head every now and then. Long story short - there are honest nice people who are hurt by the term and about a thousand terms you can stick in there instead. With those, it's tough to argue why it's okay to continue using the term.

Anyway, do what you like, I'm probably about the last person on earth who gets to judge.

FarkingReading: CSB:

This one time when Rush Limbaugh was fisting her, he asked Ann if they could include Michelle Malkin's young nephew in the action.

Ann replied, "Are you retarded?"

To which he wittily retorted: "You know that I am. Were you trying to be offensive?"

And she shot back: "You know that I was. Why don't you die and get cancer?"

And Rush did. And she ate his corpse and choked on a bone.

And everyone laughed.

Even Michelle Malkin called Ann out on her "retard" statement. Link

Stage 3 Romney-Amnesia (Romnesia). You immediately think cancer and not Alzheimers?

More to the point - you think it's a reference to anything?

There are stages of
1) HIV
2) Cancer
3) Alzheimers
4) Arthritis
5) Syphilis
6) Herpes
7) Pregnancy
8) Allergic Reaction
9) Stroke
10) Inflammatory Bowel Disease

The list goes on. This is how medicine works. People like to know what to expect, so medical conditions are described in stages. That your dumbass immediately jumps to cancer means you're completely oblivious to all of medicine. Stage 3 ________ is a reference to medicine. A reasonable person I suppose could put the two things together, medical + amnesia and come out with something like Alzheimers. But cancer? You watch too much TV.

Googling the term "Stage 3" yields two ads, both for cancer. The first disease cited in links is cancer. Like it or not--whether it's Obama saying it or Coulter saying it--"stage 3" is associated with cancer by the hoi polloi. If the reference had been used in front of an audience of doctors or patients, then "stage 3" would have different connotations.

You mean after a bunch of deranged howling from people pretending to be offended because its poltiically convenient?

As stated, if a liberal had said the same in reverse about Romney, you would not be offended by it, you would be cheering, and that's putting aside the number of times I've seen liberals say things far more offensive about people they disagree with.

Oh is it only wrong when conservatives do it? Coulter should have taken a lesson from Limbaugh, when you talk like a liberal about a liberal without being a liberal... it's wrong.

2012-10-24 12:38:33 PM
As much as I hate Ann Coulter to the point where I want her to fall from a balcony and land ass first on picket fence, I have to agree that the people making this into an issue need to A) remember that she'll say anything to get attention and should be dismissed, and B) get over the fact that retard, in this type of use, does not refer to mentally handicapped people.

No matter what you try to do, people will continue to use whatever PC term is derived for the handicapped. Do you think people who can't walk like to hear a person who can't feel be called an 'emotional cripple'? Maybe they've gotten over the usage, or maybe they understand that it's not being used to disparage them, just as today's use of retard is not meant to disparage the mentally handicapped.

Now, there are some stupid, awful people who make fun of the handicapped and will say retard in doing so, but that's not what most are doing - the ones who are, well they should probably be beaten into comas by a gang of handicapped people - it would be both hilarious and poetic justice.

When Chris Hayes or a liberal talking head says it, come back and get our reaction then. Liberals can't argue against hypotheticals - if you set the stage, we can't argue with the drapes.

As it stands, a Republican talking head with a history of histrionics used an offensive word - the same word previously denounced by the conservatariat as being "off-limits", no less - and is being called on by apolitical people in addition to some partisans (like Malkin) to apologize.

Coulter instead doubled down. Fark that woman with a barbed-wire condom.

// metaphorically - don't want anyone thinking I advocate sexual violence on Ms Coulter

She should have just used the properly accepted term: Palin-American.

Also, forgive me but I just don't see how Romnesia is a reference to cancer. Well, that's not entirely true... I actually DO get how it's actually not one, but that some waterheads desperately want it to be something offensive so they're willing to bend the truth to pretend it is.

You claim "stage 3 Romnesia" would be taken by the hoi polloi as "stage 3 some type of cancer" as opposed to "stage 3 of this hilarious new medical condition called Romnesia." You base this on "googling for stage 3 comes up with Cancer and also Ann Coulter."

I counter with you have to be a farking dumbshiat to think in context, after Obama gave multiple examples of Romney forgetting what political position he supports, "stage 3 Romnesia" is a cancer reference.

You're straining really hard there, be careful you'll hurt something.
