Both sides are bad, you say? But how should I vote?

/Difficulty: Canadian and a mostly imaginary being.

I'd say both Obama and Biden have more sincerity in their fingernail clippings than you can find these days in the entire GOP with the exception of the True Believer fundocrat types like Bachmann, Santorum et al who's sincerity is on a level with their destructive potential.

Mitt is completely insincere, an utter phony, and has long been identified as such by members of his own party.

He did have a dark side. Apparently Rowling didn't think much of bureaucrats.

Anyone whose been through the welfare system as Rowling had (yes, I know she's from the UK), or who has to work with government agencies (as I do) knows that bureaucrats can often be both malevolent and incompetent.

Aaaaand faved.

Copperbelly watersnake: Umbridge had set in stone values (farked up as they were).

Romney is more like Fudge.

Michelle Bachmann is closer to Umbridge.

Dope, that's what parents are supposed to do. You know, teach their kids. Or let their kids grow up without guidance (or let the schools do it, which is worse).

Darrell Issa is Peter Pettigrew.

Eric Cantor is Lucius Malfoy.

John Boehner is...hmm, Fenrir Greyback?

They can also be competent and caring (Kingsley Shacklebolt, Albus Dumbledore, Mr. Weasley)

Whats amazing to me is that Rowling didn't shackle any particular profession with characters that stereotyped a position of office - it was always the characters that drove the reader's perception, not the office.

Damnit. I had said that putting Karen Handel in a position of authority the Susan G. Komen Foundation was like putting Dolores Umbridge in charge of Hogwarts.

The author just needed an excuse to make a ridiculous comparison to Harry Potter. The 9-year-old probably has no idea she's being blamed.

Reading too much into it are you.

nah, not original. A bunch of lawyers with too much time on their hands did the analysis.

"What about Obama? Harry Potter, one might imagine, in the 9-year-old's phantasmagoria? The damaged hero. The chosen one. The boy who saves the world. No, she said, impatiently. Like why can't I see it? Why am I not receiving the message the universe is so clearly sending? Dumbledore! Wise, old, snowy-haired Albus Dumbledore. He has moral authority and gravitas, even when life at Hogwarts moves out of his control. He is also a master of wryness, of sharp comments delivered dryly. You can easily imagine Dumbledore saying, "We also have fewer horses and bayonets." When the evil forces of the ministry come to take him to jail, a magnificent orange bird swoops down, and together they vanish in flame."

static.selfdeprecate.com

Now Joe really needs the Bird so he and Obama can go fly off into the sunset to save the economy...and all that important stuff.

Do tell, what is this trait that makes him unacceptable? I see him more as completely unqualified for the job he took and who consistently demonstrates his lack of ability, although many refuse to see it and fall for the marketing. (Not an endorsement of Romney, by the way.) What is this single trait?

No, not endorsing Romney. Just deathly curious to know what my fair leader's single unacceptable trait might be.
