Because a stronger military is exactly what the U.S. needs right now, huh?

2012-10-24 08:06:18 AM
All Romney has are themes. No details, just themes. And they are all bad for the country, so there's that. Of course, Obama has a plan, but I don't expect Townhall bloggers to pull their fingers out of their noses long enough to go look at it. Too many words, and words are liberal or something because they mean things.

you know who else thought a stronger military was the road to prosperity?

What Mittens is running around calling his "Five Point Plan," is really nothing more than a desperate politician's letter to Santa. There's a lot of want in it, but nothing else.

Economic growth through tax cuts, less burdensome regulation through tax cuts, a foreign policy based on tax cuts, and furthermore tax cuts through tax cuts.

Jackson Herring: tax cuts through tax cuts.

That's awesome.

We need that strong military, in order to keep world markets open and to maintain influence over areas that have great fossil fuel reserves. Otherwise, we'd have to downscale globalization, and become energy independent. We wouldn't want that, now would we?

Romney is all about saying the tough things, you know, how he is both for and against everything he thinks the voters want to hear. If he's in front of the Latino Community, he's all about immigration and helping them out. He runs down the coast to a predominantly white and racist area of the country and he says he has a 5 point oplan for a fence on the border.

He panders to whomever he thinks is listening, and goes back on himself from sentence to sentence. He says he's going to create (at first 12 million, but then 4 million, and then back to 12 million) new jobs, then in the next breath chides Obama with: "The government doesn't create jobs!!"

His stance is that of a child trying to let them stay up and watch a scary movie. He switches stances, changes tactics, changes platforms, whatever it is he thinks is going to get him the job.

At this point, I'll say both candidates are getting desperate and sounding desperate. Obama now has a chance to lose this election, and Romney has said enough doubletalk to maybe take the election. Romney is doubling down on his double talk, it's getting drafty in here from all his spinning.

i don't understand all this crap about tax cuts. i mean, an extra $20 a month in my pocket isn't going to cuase me to go out and spend more money on the local economy.

So increase the deficit, with tax cuts, pretend that voodoo-economics will make the economy grow despite 30 years of proof that it doesn't work and increase the deficit even more with unnecessary military spending.

He has themes all right. I can see why he did so well as a corporate raider.

Of course not, you 47%er. You're dependent on government and always will be.

But that money in the hands of the handsome and lemon fresh 1%...well that's going to fix the economy, cure AIDS and get Iran to smarten up.

Sure it is. It isn't going to boost the economy enough to compensate for the $20 + interest it will add to the national debt, but it will increase consumption a little.

Stewart said it best. Romney's is following Obama on every single foreign policy issue while proclaiming that Obama lacks leadership. You can't make this shiat up.

The local rag paper endorsed Romney saying they really like his economic vision and plans. The description they wrote of said plans was that it consisted of a 20% tax cut. The paper admitted they and Romney don't know how he was going to do it, that it would be up to Congress to figure out and that the plan was only a "loose framework" to build off of. Of course, when they endorsed Bush in '04 they basically wrote the entire column pointing out everything he farked up, that Kerry might be better than him in a number of area but they were endorsing Bush because..... well, just because

Peter von Nostrand: The paper admitted they and Romney don't know how he was going to do it, that it would be up to Congress to figure out and that the plan was only a "loose framework" to build off of.

"I have a solution to our energy problems! Our cars will run on sea water by the end of 2013! I don't have the details of this plan, but it's up to Congress to figure out how it will be accomplished. I have a general idea of how it will work. First, we will pour sea water into our gas tanks. Then, the engine will convert that sea water into gasoline. Like I said...we'll leave it up to Congress to figure out the rest. Vote for me."

Actually Romney seems to be proposing economic growth through changing how taxes are calculated without actually cutting taxes.

2. The plan has points.
3. There are five points.
4. A star has five points.
5. Stars are good and America.

When given an hour and a half of time face-to-face with the president to discuss foreign policy, Mitt Romney could have talked about "a foreign policy based on a stronger military" and chose to validate the entirety of the president's foreign policy instead. If there's a theme for the Romney campaign, it is that he will say anything that he feels will convince a majority of his audience to elect them. That's why he walked back the tax cut plan he was touting for 18 months prior to debate 1, that's why he has failed to name any regulations that he would change and any loopholes he wants to eliminate, and that's why he's completely unconvincing as a person with strong enough convictions to lead this country.

Well, I guess if you ignore everything he's actually done, and consider GOP Senate and House obstruction trivial, they might be on to something -- if only Romney could just fill in his five point plan with even a little detail.

It's true that Obama hasn't been as focused on plans for the next four years as he could be. But it's not like he hasn't given them at all, and some of Romney's five "points" are as vague as "increase trade."

As opposed to what, decreasing trade?

Mitt Romney is the worst.

Listen up, teatards and Reagan Conservatives, I'm going to say this once again, slowly and carefully this time for those of you in Rio Linda...

Economic

Growth

Through

Tax

Cuts

DOESN'T

WORK

if you give a rich man a tax cut, he's not going to grow his business, he's going to put it in his pocket. Not one single employer is going to hire more employees because he has some extra money at the end of the year. Not a single one, from Louie's Corner Bar to General Motors. DEMAND drives the economy. And demand comes from more money in the hands of the masses, not the plutocracy. We HAVE to spend the money. They just want a bigger bottom line. It's a very simple concept that you, as a member of the masses, should well understand.

2012-10-24 11:27:55 AM
fark themes, what would Obama's and Romney's theme music be if you took it from and 80s sitcom or drama?

I would go with The Cosby show for Obama of course and maybe Dallas for Romney... I dunno
