Sir Cumference the Flatulent: I would just use a tilde.

I swear this very article indicated ".~" as the snark punctuation mark, but now has a backwards "?"

No, because like satire, when people don't get it it's funnier, so don't advertise it, just let them continue to not understand.

Oh yeah this is just super hilarious, good job submitter

I thought we already agreed that was what Comic Sans was for.

It should totally be something different than everything else so that dumb people who are constantly missing it can finally feel smart too. That's what the internet is for.

Haven't read the thread but I assume that's what Comic Sans was being used for all along.

If you need a special font to determine when someone is being sarcastic on the internet, you're probably not cut out for the internet.

Sarcasm text should stay the same. The text it responds to should be dingbats.

That's why you are favorited in such a pretty color, Feasy.

Font? We need an HTML tag.

<sarcasm type="sardonic" level="dripping">With the new HTML 5 emphasis on the ‶semantic web," it makes sense.</sarcasm>

Anyone up for a game of Sarcastaball?

2012-10-24 04:31:40 PM
Sarcasm font? That's stupid. What we need is an alarm to go off, maybe require all Internet operators to wear a dual-colored beanie cap with an appropriate sarcasm siren and accompanying flashing bright lights. The beanie, of course, would have to be sewn on, directly to the user's scalp, to ensure that sarcasm would never again be misinterpreted.

2012-10-24 04:41:31 PM
because gay?

Slaxl: No, because like satire, when people don't get it it's funnier, so don't advertise it, just let them continue to not understand.

Yeah, um, nope... The problem is that literary geniuses like you don't know how to phrase your statements so that people can TELL that they are sarcasm, unless they have been living with you for 20 years. Everyone on Fark thinks that they are SO witty with their biting sarcasm, but have no idea of the concept, so there is absolutely no way to tel that they aren't just another asshole posting whatever falls out when they sit on the toilet. If you don't have context or an indicator of some kind, nobody has any way to tell that it is sarcasm, ESPECIALLY because there are so many other assholes making the same statements that you witty farkers think are so obviously satire/sarcasm.

Learn to post, then you can take down others for not getting your signals correctly. UNtil then, you aren't good at communicating, and are blaming others for your handicap.

2012-10-24 05:09:37 PM
Reverse Italic of whatever is being used on that page.

What... when the heck did this tab happen?

GleeUnit: If you need a special font to determine when someone is being sarcastic on the internet, you're probably not cut out for the internet.

Yeah, because people are so obvious about it.

'Hey-look-at-me! I'm-going-to-post-the-same-crap-as-half-the-people-here,-but-all-the-' smart'-people-will-know-that-my-post-is-sarcastic,-although-I-have-giv en-no-contextual-indicators-at-all,-because-they-are-all-psychic.'

See, THAT is an example of how you indicate sarcasm. There are many others, but the snobs on the internet truly expect everyone just to figure it out on their own.

2012-10-24 05:19:46 PM
It's not hard to recognize sarcasm. And a special font for it ruins the entire point.

Damn. Shatner has let himself go.

2012-10-24 05:56:27 PM
Maybe they should have a special font for when it's not sarcasm.
