I hope the arsonist gets prison raped.

At the same time: "What we saw was reminiscent of a [Ku Klux Klan] cross burning," Stevens said in an e-mail. "And that may well have been the effect the perpetrators wished to achieve." Let's cool it with the hyperbole here. You're not in danger of being lynched.

I wonder how they feel about hate crimes now.

Came here to say this. Some punk kid set their yard sign on fire, and that's pretty much all there is to it.

So passionate they'll engage in cowardly, anonymous vandalism.

I'm not slamming your comment. I'm just frustrated by this ridiculous behavior.

Would it be possible to move election day up on the calendar to, say, tomorrow, so we can be done with all of this?

Or is it wishful thinking this will end after the election?

We all know that Israel was behind the 9/11 attacks because they wanted to import more twinkees than they were allowed. I wouldn't put it past them to commit a false flag attack to discredit the reptilian overlords of Planet X

Just a reminder that it is possible it was just a punk kid, whose vandalism had nothing to do with politics.

At least that's what I hope...

4 by 8 foot? That's not a yard sign, that's a billboard. My neighbors would probably burn a 32 square foot billboard down if I put it in my yard, too. It wouldn't matter if it was for Romney, Obama, or cute cuddly kittens.

Anyone who vandalizes someone's property just because they're supporting "the other guy" or stages such an act in order to make supporters of a candidate look bad shouldn't be allowed to vote.

It has been rumored in these parts of Virginia is that one reason the perps aren't being caught is because they are the same people as the complainants. It is an open secret that a farmer about six or seven miles away from me destroyed his own gigantic Romney signs.

It's funny how fire calls to men. But if you're intentionally poisoned, 80% it was a woman.

Um. There's 'you're not helping', and then there's a level beyond that.

This is the level past 'beyond'.

I live in downtown Leesburg (and this is the second time today my sleepy little hamlet has made national news, the other being the Gangam-style halloween lights)

This is far more likely the work of the same 3 local punks who think it's a really hoot to bang loudly on my door at Midnight or 1 am and then run away then it is a poltical statement

2012-10-24 12:53:40 PM
God I hate yard signs. It really does nothing but allow for idiots to steal or vandalize them, and the extremely insignificant number of incidents get attention. Also it seems like lots of people get them so they can have boner-inducing fantasies about beating up people that they catch trying to steal them.

2012-10-24 12:54:49 PM

Hyppy: 4 by 8 foot? That's not a yard sign, that's a billboard. My neighbors would probably burn a 32 square foot billboard down if I put it in my yard, too. It wouldn't matter if it was for Romney, Obama, or cute cuddly kittens.

Yeah, this looks like a back and forth pissing contest. They had their original, small sign stolen so they put up a much bigger one to say, "Screw you." Then the thief said, "No, SCREW YOU."

The only time an HOA might be useful is to ban obnoxious yard signs, especially ones the size of a refrigerator.

/cute cuddly kittens would be o.k. though. What's wrong with you?

2012-10-24 12:56:55 PM
There is a county truck running around my area ripping out ALL of the signs put up along the highway without permits

Another week or so and this shiat will be over and the politics page will go back to 10ish threads a day.

The louder the comment the more ignorant the content. The fact that these people feel the need to erect a billboard in their front yard to visually shout at people to vote for their candidate shows how substantially bankrupt his position and policies really are. The fact that they do so inspite of this shows how theirs are the same. If I had to look at an intellectual eyesore like that every day, I would think long and hard about burning the thing to the ground as well.

Burning signs, multiple threats to kill Romney, it seems the Liberals are the radicals now.

So the Klan burns crosses saying they are illuminating them or 'lighting the cross'. So this means the arsonist is for Romney?

But If Majority PAC or Crossroads PAC burn a few dozen million dollars in television advertising that is OK right? Or does that point out that Obama/Romney have substantially bankrupt positions per your argument. They are much louder and more of an eyesore than some schlub putting up sheet of plywood sized sign in his own yard.

I am sure there aren't any large Obama signs in anybody's yard. There were never large signs for Clinton or Reagan or Kennedy or Nixon or Eisenhoweer or Truman... and they were all substantially bankrupt in their policies and position

2012-10-24 01:23:31 PM
Oh wow! I WAS going to vote for Obama, but now that I see how big your yard sign is I'm totally voting for Romney!

When I drive around town, I am always amazed at the homes that have Romney signs in their yards. Some of these houses cannot be worth more than $20,000. Those people are certainly part of the 47% that Romney does not care about. I can only assume that they are voting based on race.

To be honest, any house valued at less than $750,000 should not vote for Romney.

I don't agree with PACs either, but I also don't watch cable or ota television so I am spared from 99% of the political bullshiat. However, if they somehow made a deal with my ISP stating that anytime I opened up a webpage I would be subjected to a full-page political ad (analgous to having to stare at a 8 by 4 foot billboard everytime I leave my driveway) my opinion would be the same. Stimulation overload to gain attention to a candidate is not a replacement for having a sane and supportable position.
