What a dick. Well, that WAS a coinflip race. Even the most redneck of my fellow hoosiers won't ignore that, and I'm pretty sure the media will make sure they can't. I was watching the debate live on cspan and just about dislocated my jaw when he said it. The stupidest thing is-- he didnt have to, he paused and made it clear he  flat out wanted to say it all Colonel Jessup style. Good Grief

We should put God on trial for accessory to rape, then.

I don't understand why he makes an exception for the mother's life. It must be God's will that she dies, or there would be no abortion procedure that could save her life.

That was my thought. If you're gonna go all out; go all out, man. Don't pussy foot around.

Just like genocide.

I read an excellent little rant the other day about how frustrating and obnoxious it is to see these guys casually talking about how they truly believe in their right to control women's bodies completely. It's a fairly nice summary of how this stuff makes me feel:

"You know, it was always ethically repugnant to have a bunch of privileged men deciding what women and other people with uteri have the right to do with our bodies, but the more these Republican dipshiats espouse their medical theories about how female et al reproduction works and reveal they have no farking idea what they are talking about, the more evident it becomes that it is irresponsible and unjust and straight-up incompetent governance to allow them to hold decision-making positions in the area of reproductive health.

Even if it were not ethically repugnant to disallow people with uteri to make their own reproductive healthcare decisions, the people currently tasked with the job are comprehensively unqualified to do it.

Truly, only the most selfish, self-centered, careless, reflexively conservative shiatbirds who lazily allow their cherry-picked religious beliefs to substitute for critical thought and trust any monster with an R behind his name to champion their "moral values" would not be alarmed by this catastrophic failure to demonstrate possession and comprehension of basic farking facts. Not only do these dregs at the bottom of the voting barrel entrust men to make decisions for women, they don't even care if those men have any discernible knowledge of the subject, because knowledge isn't important when you're legislatin' for Jesus.

Good grief. "

Go fark yourself, zealot. You're a disgrace to your country and a disgrace to your religion.

Vodka Zombie: a disgrace to your religion.

I think he's a shining example of modern Christianity.

What do you mean the last debate of his career? 42% or so of this country eats that shiat up.

It's not like the Ryan budget. There's never going to be a tough rape vote you need. They just alienate voters for no reason.

"Richard Mourdock(R) at the last political debate of his career "

Given all of the Republicans who have said that rape is ok or justified or a gift from God who will get elected or re-elected this November I doubt this statement is true.

Keep in mind they worship the spawn of their God after he raped a girl who was out of wedlock.

Mr Mourdock...If any of your relatives or friends get raped and end up pregnant I sincerely hope they spit in your face and never speak to you again.

You're a nasty, reprehensible piece of slime to even suggest that God condones rape, let alone say it's God's will that a rape victim finds herself pregnant.

Hey Murdoch

If true, then your "God" is a bit of a dick isn't he?

If it isn't true, then you are a bit of a dick aren't you?

(Not that the two statements above are necessarily mutually exclusive)

The republicans have the rape vote all shored up this election cycle.

"This is that issue that every federal or state candidate faces and I too certainly stand for life. I know there are some who disagree and I respect their point of view, but I believe that life begins at conception. Uh, the only exception I have for an abortion is in that case of the life of the mother. I struggled with it myself for a long time but I came to realize that life is a gift from God. And I think that even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape that it is something God intended to happen."

You have every right to believe that and most people wouldn't even give a shiat if you didn't want to force people to adhere to your understanding of God's Will

You believe that something bad happens because a LOVING sky wizard wants it to, you've already lost. You're a fool. Shut up and pray for something that has a 50% chance happening regardless. Grown, thinking people are talking. Idiot.

Dammit, my List Of People I Need To Punch In The Face just keeps on f--king growing. Like a rape feutuses if this goddamm douchebag has his way.

Statistically a woman who knows him has to have suffered a sexual assault. Lady, if you could get some women balls and punch him for me / all women I / we sure would appreciate it.

Probably a quarter of Americans, if pressed, would agree with Mourdock's words and even more with the sentiment he expressed.

These people cannot be reasoned with, they can only be fought. And then hope their kids aren't quite so spectacularly stupid and malicious.

So we can count on him to adopt rape babies? They are God's gift, after all.

This is the same guy who said "Compromise is democrats agreeing with republicans." This isn't surprising to hear. Not from him anyway.

2012-10-23 09:47:11 PM
The rapist isn't guilty because God intended it to happen. What else was he supposed to do? In fact God's entire plan from the creation of the world onwards was to make sure that rapist would be there to rape at the right time.

This similarly holds true for the raped. God has a long term plan, lady, and he wanted you to be raped so badly that every moment of every one of your ancestors' lives have been planned and carried out to get you raped in the park and pregnant.

Nice guy, this God.

True. The fact that 40% of Missouri is still polling for Akin makes me want to hitch a ride on the next passing Vogon ship. I'd even sit through some of their poetry.

What a bunch of crap...when God's plan involves rape, people just say, 'oh, that God...works in such mysterious ways...bless him'. But when *my* plan involves rape, it's nothing but prison and predator lists.

Damn hypocrites...

2012-10-23 09:53:40 PM
Whenever people talk about why God lets bad things happen (or makes them happen, depending on your viewpoint), I get a distinct abusive boyfriend vibe.

2012-10-23 09:54:09 PM
I commend this man. He let that venom flow and revealed his true beliefs.
Take a good look Republicans, this is the future of your party. You are no longer the party of self-proclaimed "fiscal responsibility". You have let the Tea Party Patriots poison your minds and make you believe that abortion, gay marriage and assault rifle bans are the real problems facing this country.
Enjoy your journey into obscurity. You can take your God with you as well.

2012-10-23 09:54:37 PM
I wonder if rape would even be illegal if these guys had their way. The Bible says "go forth and multiply" - it doesn't say "go forth and multiply with a willing partner."

TFA: Also participating in the debate was Libertarian Andy Horning who said he was pro-life.

So, not a real libertarian then. Just another social conservative Republican pretending to be a libertarian.

Please. The pro-lifers eat that sh*t up.

2012-10-23 09:55:49 PM
At least it is a more consistent position than claiming you believe life begins at conception, but abortions are acceptable in the case of rape. Not saying it's not really really stupid. Just slightly less stupid/hypocritical.

I'd imagine most who were inclined towards him will buy his clarification rather than Donnelly's characterization of it
