The line is GB -13.5 right now, and while Vegas won't be that ballsy, I wouldn't bat an eye if it becomes -30 by Thursday.

So, as a guy that drafted Blackmon in FF and still have him, is he awful because of Gabbert or because he sucks?

Was keeping him to see if he develops but half a season in and he's somehow getting worse.

2012-10-23 03:14:42 PM
Oh damn, I was thinking it was Luke McCown time again, but apparently he moved on from Jacksonville. I love seeing former QBs for the Browns end up playing elsewhere. Unless it's Bruce Gradkowski, quick-snapping the Browns for a TD. Seriously, how do you get quick snapped in the NFL?

There's just such a rich history of failure in Cleveland's QB corps, that it's always a wonder why other teams decide they need this guy. Why did the Vikings take on Spurgon Wynn and eventually give him starts, when the only notable thing about him was that he was the last QB taken before Tom Brady in the 2000 draft? Did people pay Josh Booty just because his name was funny? Why did the Broncos trade a serviceable running back for Brady Quinn? Why do teams keep signing Bruce Gradkowski?

/Luke is apparently now backing up Ryan in ATL, so will likely never see the field.
//McCown, Gradkowski, Josh Booty, Spurgon Wynn, Brady Quinn, Derek Anderson and Kelly Holcomb have all started games for teams other than the Browns.
///None of them should have. Especially Spurgon. Who was probably the worst QB I've seen in the NFL.

2012-10-23 03:15:30 PM
Damn Gabbert. Flacco on bye, Locker hurt, Gabbert hurt. I hope my opponent doesn't realize if he picks up Chad Henne I only have 1 qb. And that qb is philip rivers. fark.

Yes to the Gabbert part, but Henne isn't any better. Blackmon is a wasted talent right now and should probably be dropped. He may have a few TDs this year, but nothing you will miss.

Booty hasn't. Wynn was a third-stringer in Minnesota who got starts because everyone else had season-ending injuries.

I drafted him thinking I could replicate the success I had in drafting Green from the bengals last year. Maybe Gabbert got better and an explosive rookie was all he needed. I will be the first to admit that I was dead wrong.

I heartily disagree. The Packers will absolutely smoke them for 85% of the game, then somehow make it seem way closer than it should be...oh wait that is the same thing isn't it?

It will be a great tune up game for our secondary at least. Capers will be able to see who can fill in Woodson's role.

According to NFL.com -

Baltimore
Chicago
Cincy
Cleveland
Dallas
Green Bay
Houston
Indy
Jax
New England
Nawlins
Giants
Whale's Vagina
TrollHawks
Tampa

So 15 of 32 teams.

I'll give teams like Green Bay and the Giants a pass, since their QBs are great at what they do and rarely get dinged up. But it seems absurd for teams with shoddy QB play to run that risk, especially Chicago.

Chalk it up to the roster limits. You can put another player into your defensive rotation if you go with 2 QBs. I know that was a factor for the Cowboys this year - they figured they'd rather have a shot at rotating in a useful body on special teams or defense than trying to salvage a season in which Tony Romo and Kyle Orton go down.

/because seriously
//Stephen McGee was awful

Anquan Boldin is Baltimore's third QB. I'm pretty sure most of the other teams have a similar situation where the third QB will be converted from a different position if needed.

Also the JEST do fine without having any starting QB on their team, so I think having three deep is a bit overrated.

To be fair to Chicago though they have like 1.5 starting QBs with Campbell as the backup.

It's because there is a persistent complaint about the Browns that they give up on QBs too quickly.
