The website that TFA is on tells me it has a good chance of being a lie.

2012-10-23 11:04:55 AM
If you read TFA, it seems someone has finally figured out how far is too far.
The state actually CARES about this one.

unlikely: If you read TFA, it seems someone has finally figured out how far is too far.

The republican secretary of state cares about republican votes being suppressed.

Voter purge will still go forward of course, because those people may vote Democratic.

/still a despicable tactic, but not surprised that all of a sudden suppression is srsbzns when it affects the "home team"

2012-10-23 01:01:34 PM
So, suddenly Republicans care about voter suppression? Yeah, right.

2012-10-23 01:05:06 PM
If true, this is unacceptable behavior. color me skeptical until we have confirmation in a more respectable source

2012-10-23 01:08:18 PM
bullshiat. thread over.

2012-10-23 01:08:40 PM
No, subby, as someone who has decried this same activity by the Republicans, if true this is a shiatty tactic and the people responsible deserve a good KITBASH.

2012-10-23 01:09:28 PM
You know, these stupid equivalency headlines always point the same direction, and all they do is highlight the default. What you are saying is "Republicans commit voter fraud all the time, but in this one case, some democrats did it"

Its like the stupid "party of tolerance" headlines. You are setting the default as "Republicans are intolerant, but this one democrat was also intolerant!"

Working as intended.

2012-10-23 01:10:32 PM
Libs are above such tactics. They have principles and ethics. Winning is not the point to them; they just want to fight the good fight.

2012-10-23 01:10:50 PM
Contrary to the headline, the article does not claim that the letters came from a Democratic group.

2012-10-23 01:12:43 PM

MechaDupek: principles and ethics. Winning is not the point to them; they just want to fight the good fight.

/BWAAAAAAAAAHAHAA

Well, there are certainly a number of libs in this thread saying "If this is legit and true, it is wrong.". And I'll be among them.

Strange how when the shoe's on the other foot, we tend to hear how it's fair play or "Their fault for being so stupid and believing it!".

2012-10-23 01:13:11 PM
It'd be hilarious if it turned out to be a Republican group that just screwed up their blanket direct mail campaign

2012-10-23 01:13:29 PM
Yes, there is no story here...which is why there is a story, and you have posted it to Fark.

Is Subby Mitt Romney? Inconsistencies within a single paragraph are kinda his thing.

I'm sorry it burns when you pee. You should have been more discriminating when in the chicken coop.

DNRTFA, since its the Daily Caller, but assuming its true... Crucify them. Make an example of the group. Much as I think Repubs are farking idiots and arseholes, they have a right to vote.

2012-10-23 01:15:55 PM
Law enforcement needs to crack down on any kind of voter suppression with extreme prejudice.

Yeah, about those voting machines? Oh, sort of ignored at this point? Okay, that's cool.

2012-10-23 01:17:07 PM
People need to just stop with this kind of bullshiat...

2012-10-23 01:17:34 PM
Where is the part about letters coming from a democratic group?

Oh, and how many letters?

"a number"

"multiple reports"

Oh... wow. So.. .two?

2012-10-23 01:17:58 PM
Undeniable proof that the Democrat Party is a Terrorist organization and should be outlawed.

2012-10-23 01:18:03 PM
The headline is clever because only republicans engage in suppressing the vote. But look when democrats do it, clearly all democrats will agree its okay?

Oh trolling. It's what's for breakfast.

I was told recently that because Kennedy stole the election through voter fraud from Nixon that means that "liberals" aren't allowed to complain about Republicans breaking the law and committing voter fraud / election fraud today.

2012-10-23 01:18:14 PM
What Democrat group, subby, are you referring to?

2012-10-23 01:18:22 PM
Despicable. While we are on the subject,

Sending out letters which hint at ineligibility to vote are bad.

But literally dumping valid ballots in the garbage (with the person who did it being witnessed) is not eligible for prosecution? Does that mean this is okay? Why are Dems sending out letters when they can just round up all the republican ballots and burn them without prosecution?

How do you walk with all those little noodles in there squishing about?

A few questions: How does a person in Washington know a person in Floridas' Party affiliation? Where are all the letters? If this was going to be effective, shouldn't there be thousands of them?

When liberals do it to conservatives? Cause that seems like the only difference between this and the 3 or 4 other stories that were the other way around politically...

Knowingly presenting false election information should be a crime.

2012-10-23 01:21:48 PM
All this crap needs a hefty penalty. 10-25 years of hard labor would be a nice start. We have a for profit prison system, let's use it!

2012-10-23 01:23:08 PM
Throwing out hundreds of voter registration forms? Overzealous staffer
Restricting voting only in Democratic districts? A non issue being ginned up by the media
Purging legitimate voters from the rolls? Can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

A couple of Republicans get fake letters? THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!

2012-10-23 01:23:31 PM

lj1330: A few questions: How does a person in Washington know a person in Floridas' Party affiliation? Where are all the letters? If this was going to be effective, shouldn't there be thousands of them?

And isn't it incredible how these ineffective, untraceable letters to persons of party affiliation unknown to the sender just happen to support the right's favorite "Both Sides Are Bad so Vote Republican" argument?

What a shocking coincidence!

Of course. Democrats are a hivemind controlled by George Soros, remember?

qorkfiend: Knowingly presenting false election information should be a crime.

FTFA:"According to the Florida Department of State, voter fraud constitutes a third-degree felony and is punishable by up to $5,000 fine and five years in prison."

Unless the person charged is a corporation, then there is no prison time.

2012-10-23 01:24:35 PM
the letters are post marked in Seattle? first off why would you take that seriously when it should be coming from within Florida.

secondly nothing to tie to any one not that will stop the republican from trying tier damnedest to tie it to Obama if they can.

my guess its a random dude trying to troll the election.

In part because the election apparatuses in key states are controlled by Republicans using Romney family electronic voting machines.

The point of fighting the good fight is still to win. Not cheating is not the same as not wanting to win.

If this is true, string 'em up. There's no place for this sort of farkwittery. It is totally possible to think that and still think the point of running a campaign is to win.

That link doesn't say WHO sent the letters, so it is not the same. It only says they are going after repubs. Knowing the GOP, I'd be willing to bet they sent they're own supporters the letters in order to make the dems look bad, and to be able to say "look! Both sides do it!!!1!1!one!1!!!1!eleventy-one!" like the assholes they are.

Goddamn THIS.

Anyone found to be engaging in this should be banned from national politics for life, and charged with election-tampering and hit with the maximum allowable sentence. I say we make a HUGE example out of these people so it sets a precedent, and then follow that precedent from now on, regardless of party affilitation. Any Fark Republicans care to agree with me?

Corrobarated. And being investigated.

And to their credit, the FL GOP wasn't too thrilled when the same firm that hired that douche in VA destroyed registrations. They filed an elections complaint. It's now in the hands of law enforcement.

"We checked to see if the reports of possible fraud were legally sufficient and they were," said Chris Cate, spokesman for Florida's elections division. "This is now a matter for FDLE."

It's amazing that we're showing up Virginia.

More than likely the letters were sent to "Republicans" who were really Democrats, who registered to vote through Strategic Allied Consultants.
