What the fark is their issue with drones? I really don't understand this, is it somehow better if we drop a bomb from an actual plane or shoot a missile from a nearby cruiser? It sounds like their real problem is killing people, but focusing it on drones is just bizarre.

Rocky invokes Ike, slam your drink, get another and slam that too!

Climate change and military spending. Off track there buddy

I think Jill and Rocky would make a cute couple. Gary and Virgil, not so much.

Wow, he mentioned Kellogg-Briand as an example of how to prevent wars...the treaty that was so vaguely defined that it pushed governments to war without actually declaring war, and was pretty much the reason the War Powers Resolution had to be passed.

because drones are a cowards weapon, it totally dis-associates the killing of person as just an image on a screen. Cause any SAP on a couch can operate a drone, any punk motherfarker can bust slugs, but it takes a real thug to stab some starring straight into their eyes (get the point?). plus drones can be used for spying on American citizens and invasion of privacy via "public air" above your home, in parks, etc..

Gary was against Iraq before it was cool.

ole prophet: Johnson

He'd never win, not in NM at least. We here may get pissed at the (Democrat) state legislature and elect a Republican governor every once in a while. However, the only thing we really want out of our senators is for them to bring the federal dollars back by the boatload.

It's hard to do "rebuttals" when 3 of the 4 candidates are basically of one mind.

You do know that missileers on a cruiser don't ride the missile to the target and then stab them, right?

I just figured it out, Virgil Goode reminds me of any random lawyer from a John Grisham book.

It isn't about courage, its about killing the people you want to kill and keeping your troops as safe as can be.

I agree with this comment on rebuttals. I agree with most of the people about rebuttals.

Any rebuttals?

I love the outrage over the NDAA but nobody gives a shiat that these powers were implicit in the 9/11 AUMF.

In all honesty, this means we should want Romney. Who is best for us is worst for the rest of the world.

If I could write a Constitutional amendment that would be guaranteed to be passed? I'd write one that says I can change the Constitution at will. You never waste a wish for unlimited wishes. Morons.

It's the strangest damned pandering I've ever done seen. Did they all go hang out at Reddit for a week before this thing?

This has been a far more enjoyable experience than I expected. And while I would never vote for Virgil Goode for anything, I love listening to him. Jill is a bit unprepared, but Rocky's got her back. Gary looks a bit feral, but at least he knows where he stands and what he wants to do.

Virgil will amend the constitution to...eliminate tar limits? Is that environmental or something?

Their site sucks, but from the google results it looks like it's a different organization than the ACLU proper.

Disregard. Their site finally decided to load:
The ACLU Liberty Watch 2012 Campaign is a campaign of the American Civil Liberties Union, an organization exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code, that is engaged in the mission of defending the rights guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution, including First Amendment freedoms, equality, privacy rights and fundamental fairness. It is a separate entity from the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation, an organization exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Code. While the American Civil Liberties Union and the American Civil Liberties Union Foundation share the same mission, it is necessary that this mission be undertaken by two separate organizations.

thanks. I wonder how they determine the candidates positions? Direct questionnaire or following speeches? Some other way?

Notice how none of these people will push for a constitutional amendment that allows third parties to enter the system.

Well, the rest of the world isnt as keen on drones as Americans are. So it is somewhat responsible to at least know and understand the worlds popular opinion, even if we dont agree.

And yes, it is primarily about remotely killing people off the battle field without due process,

2012-10-23 10:20:53 PM
Johnson sounds like the sanest candidate the LP has ever nominates since....the 1980's????

Frederick: And yes, it is primarily about remotely killing people off the battle field without due process,

Again, what's the difference between a drone and lobbing a missile from a cruiser or just using a manned aerial vehicle?

If the person doesn't get due process, it doesn't matter who drops the bomb on him.
