The officer, Const. Stéfanie Trudeau, first rose to local prominence earlier this year when video surfaced of her generously pepper-spraying a crowd of student protesters who appeared to pose no threat.

Oh, the sensitivity, it burns, it burns...

She could always go work for the Berkley PD.

Actually feel sorry for her. Reads like she's dealing with PTSD. It's the sh*ts. I've gone through it and it wrecks your life. Hopefully, she'll get treatment, but it's the right call. She needs to retire temporarily and get treatment.

UltimaCS: Oh wow that guy kept his job? What the hell kind of union do they have?

Her

job, actually. But I'm inclined to agree: why has this officer not been fired or, if for some reason she cannot be fired, then at least put behind a desk permanently? This is not someone who should be dealing with suspects.

CSB:

I've got an old friend with SPVM (Montreal Cops) and ran into her the game right after the Bruins Riots (We didn't get knocked out of round 1 - since that's about all we can hope for, that's the party)

Without thinking, I ran up to her (she in full riot gear, standing around in a group waiting for something to happen) and gave her a hug and kiss (quebec greeting).

There was a brief moment where I realized the level of stupidity, and how close I was to police-assisted suicide. Thankfully, she recognized me before her instincts had time to beat me down

It must have been something to watch - I've seen pics - lots of nightsticks being pulled out behind me

//not sure the point
//All cops have to be on edge and ready to roll
//The few bad cops are making the other 0.5% look bad

"Help the police. Beat yourself up."

Interesting 7 minute video here.

How many Montreal cops does it take to arrest on hippie? At least they're even-handed: male cops hit women, but female cops also attack men.

Montreal has some of the most stunningly beautiful women in the world. This cop has all the aesthetic charms of a bulldog eating mayonnaise. The chip on the shoulder is understandable:

Well, that is certainly the standard, isn't it? I mean, if the students locked arms and blocked the doors to congress and the gate at the white house, they would just be allowed to stay there forever, right? After all, they were posing no threat, and that's the standard, amirite?

MFTFA:
This week new video surfaced of a forceful, profanity-laced arrest during a dispute

Forceful arrest? No!!!! I am sure she is the ONLY one doing that. Police should only be allowed to arrest people where it can be done without force.

And profanity? OMGWTFBBQ!!! She used profanity?!!? Burn her!!

You are very generous with woman who is more likely just drunk on power. I want to know how her superiors still allowed her on the job after the first incident (yes, could be that union thing). She has had her chance -- there are plenty of more peaceable people wanting to be peace officers.

In theory she is a highly trained professional who should be capable of performing her job with tact and efficiency.

In practice she's no better behaved than the gutter scum she is arresting.

Ppppppbtt! Amateurs.

When I worked in a mental health clinic and a patient went wild, we had a city officer they sent to us mainly because he took no shiat, was the size of a mack truck and looked like he was made from gnarled Oak.

He usually spent his time in the high crime areas, 'discussing' appropriate behavior with the local thugs and gangsters, behind buildings, out of view of the public. He'd survive several attempts to kill him and this was before bullet proof vests.

His favorite tactic was to 'arrest' some mouthy little psychopath who just had to give him shiat, drive him to the woods, where he professionally administered an 'attitude adjustment' and when he dragged him to jail, explained that the guy 'fell' or 'resisted arrest'.

When he showed up at the clinic, where we'd have some guy tearing the security room apart, we just opened the door and he filled it, glaring at the patient. They tended to quiet down real fast and he let them know it would awfully annoy him if he had to return.

They usually stayed quieted down.

The average citizen didn't complain about him because he stayed mainly in the high crime area. (Right on the edge of which, the clinic was built.)

I think he finally retired, taking with him a few pieces of lead, a lot of scars and Friday nights became quieter at the local ER.

If memory serves me correctly, isn't that the one where the main character in one scene has a bunch of grenades taped to his crouch and has his partner take them off to throw them at bad guys?

I wouldn't describe being overly generous with pepper spray as being infamous for brutality. I would consider it an abuse of authority and being an asshole. The brutality spectrum is a little more wide ranging than that.

Keep in mind she's a Canadian cop - that's a legacy of brutality by their standards. Too bad we can't say the same here in America.

Hi,

From Montreal here :

Knew her badge number, ....
She became famous the day she pepper sprayed 1 protester who had touched her arm.
I would'a somewhat be uncomfortable with that, but then ......
She went one to pepper spray any1 with a 15 yard radius for standing filming with phones.

Much like that Floyd cop did to sitting protesters.

She made youtube the next day, unfortunately I'm at work and can't go find the video. (youtube blocked)

I'm happy she finally made fark. ... took months.

//a LOT of cops are corrupted in Montreal.
