Oh dear, I don't think I like that. Brooding and loss between ass kickings is what I look for from Batman. Egotism and quips between ass kickings is what I want from Iron Man.

I agree, but I have high hopes for Shane Black directing. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is great.

Agreed. I'm sure it was mainly the way the trailer was cut, but that's not how I would hope the movie actually plays out. I suppose it would be better that way for taking the villain seriously though. I found the villains in Iron Man 1 & 2 to be the least memorable/weakest of all the Avengers movies. I thought Loki was an extremely weak villain in Thor, but after watching that movie again after seeing The Avengers, he comes off as a lot much more menacing villain.

The trailer was ok. I rather not see too much in the trailer. Most trailers show all the good scenes and end up spoiling the entire movie.

No thanks, I'm done with trailers for movies I'm actually going to see. Hulk catching Iron Man in the Avengers trailer was the last straw. So Tony's falling, in the final dramatic moment in the film, and we realize we haven't seen that yet. Obviously he's not going to die and Thor is revving up to save him, but it would have been a nice surprise. Instead it's just a face-palm moment.

His was always a tecno-magic anyway. The rings of power he got from an alien spaceship that contained the body of a dragon from Maklu VI. Where Fin Fang Foom was from too, if I remember right.

So don't whine about him being a technology villian. Iron Man's villians were always technos.

It looks like they're doing the 'someone hacks the Iron Man armor and Tony is helpless in the suit while it's used in an assassination' story. That's a good premise.

Yeah, that was a pretty boneheaded choice. Kinda like having Gollum falling into the lava in the Return of the King trailer, for example.

Reportedly, that scene had actually been "spoiled" forty-eight years prior to the release of the film.

*sigh*

I understand that for some reason Hollywood thinks we want to see superhero movies where the superhero loses their powers over and over and over and over again (we don't).

But what I get from this is:
-military/bad guys steal a suit
-his other suits get blown up
-he loses the arc

Why the f*ck would I wanna watch that? Doesn't entice me at all, sorry to say.
Pass.

I agree to an extent, but I'm thinking much like another poster said, that this is just a cut highlighting some emotional heft and gravity. It's looking like Tony is suffering from PTSD after the Avengers. That's a great story element to follow up in for his character. In the Avengers Cap mentioned how he wasn't a soldier and he only fought for himself. That creates a certain emotional distance in a person that the fighting has no meaning.

Now that he has fought alongside comrades for something greater than his personal glory and the world as a whole, not to mention finally losing someone (Coulson) which greatly changes one's outlook and motivation.

I don't think he will ever be broody like Batman. His sarcasm will always be a defining trait. I do however like his character showing growth and extra dimensions rather than just being a one note type of guy. RDJ is one seriously talented actor. It'd be a shame not to let him flex some of that muscle. Sorry for any poor grammar or spelling. I'm on my phone and falling asleep every two seconds.

Looks like the Heroic Age armor, except with the vectored repulsor suit-up from the Extremis story, and destroying the suits from World's Most Wanted. Probably a nightmare about the suit taking his life over from the old Mask in the Iron Man arc, aaaand I'm going to call the shadows on the wall victims of a repulsor-based suicide bomb like in The Five Nightmares.

Maybe Obie's son makes an appearance.

How about the trailer for the first Paranormal Activity movie? You wait through the entire movie for the scene where he gets thrown into the camera.

BigSnatch: I found the villains in Iron Man 1 & 2 to be the least memorable/weakest of all the Avengers movies.

Jeff Bridges had a memorable villain performance in a CAVE.

With a box of SCRAPS!

Not too bad. Although the Iron Man 2 trailer had that snippet of the Iron Man/War Machine fight w/ all of the drones, which was badassier.

I think Marvel needs to work harder to invent more villains for Tony. He's still fighting the Stanes and Mandarin in the comic book, and Iron Man never had the deep and interesting Rogues' Gallery that Spider-man or Batman had (but then again, who does?). That's why I always ignored Iron Man solo books; crappy villains. Maybe Tony needs to fight some Avengers veterans. AIM isn't being used by anybody else (don't know about Skrulls and Kree).

Agreed. It was always just some asshole in a robotic suit or carried a single, gimmicky weapon. e.g. Dynamo, Beetle, Stilt, Arsenal, Boomerang, Firepower, Titanium Man, Whirlwind, etc.

AbiNormal: Batman Ironman Rises?

Yeah, that's the first thing that I thought of as well.

-villain with a "new world order" motive who likes broadcasting his plans to the public - check
-hero banished to some shiathole he has to get back from in time to save the world - looks like it
-hero haunted by his past - yup

Hell, Ben Kinglsey is even doing his best Bane impression.

I hope a character calls the red, white, and blue suit the Iron Patriot. I always thought that was a cool name, and it could be a subtle dig at Sony.

Spider-Man's bad guys are pretty much all freaks of science. Batman's are smart guys who use gadgets. Captain America's hate our American way of life. The Hulk's are Gamma-powered monsters.

welcome to the other side of the pendulum and say hello to more Transformers movies with less plot.

The Military or government wants their own Captain America (again).

I wonder if the shadows on the wall are from the battle of new york or something different?
