So... Brian Wilson is out all season, Lincecum loses 15 games with a 5.18 ERA, their top hitter gets busted and is out the last 50 games, and they face an elimination game on the road with all hopes on Barry Zito.  Baseball is weird, man.

Kevin72: Tigers have a lot to fear

So do the Giants. I don't recall them sweeping the Yankees. :D

Counted out when Wilson went down.
Counted out when Lincecum all but disappeared.
Counted out when Casilla got blown up.
Counted out when Melky got suspended.
Counted out after losing the first two at home against the Reds.
Counted out after going down 3-1 to the Cardinals.

Bring on the Tigers. Bring on the Triple Crown winner and the Prince. Bring on Justin farking Verlander and yes you have to say his name with "farking" included. And bring on the haters.

The San Francisco Giants are in the World Series for the second time in three seasons.

fark. YEAH.

My Giants (thank you very little Billy Crystal) actually pulled it out. Too bad they are already in an 0-3 hole against a well-rested Tigers squad.

There can only be one...

Congrats to the San Francisco Baseball Giants on winning the NL title, but I'm mandated by fate to root for the Detroit Yankee-Slayers come Wednesday. :P

Good luck, and may the best team win! :-)

Given the way I expected this season to go...I'm satisfied with the outcome.

Having said that.

Holy crap that was the worst I've seen my boys play in a long, long time. Pitching collapsed, suddenly no infielder wanted to touch a ball in play and it was just easier to take strike 3 than it was to SWING AT AN X AND 2 PITCH IN THE POURING RAIN IN THE TOP OF THE 9TH OF THE END OF YOUR SEASON!

*deep breath*

Go Tigers!

And the hit that drives the final nail in the coffin is a once-in-a-lifetime-freak-exploding-bat-swing by hunter freaking pence, a swing that actually hits the ball 3 times in the same motion, by multiple fragments of the disintigrating bat, producing a physics defying, knuckling hit that jukes the shortstop into running the wrong way.

Have you ever, as a kid, wished you could stop time, run down onto the field, and make little changes, then run back to your seat and watch the game unfold in amazing ways that benefit your team, and leave everyone else baffled and amazed at their luck? I think someone was doing that tonight for the giants.

But seriously, the baseball gods cracked down hard on the cards after Halliday's slide, as sincere and classy and apologetic as he was after the fact.

So - should the giants activate Melky for the series?
