Smart move, Clark. Newspapers are dying.

Ah, good old DC...

"LOOK HOW HIP AND EDGY AND KEWL WE ARE! SUPERMAN RUNS A BLOG!"

Then they try their best to revert everything to the way it was in 1974.

/didn't work in the 70s when Clark Kent was a TV Newsman, won't work now.

Sad part is DC has gotten a lot of new readers with New52. All the old fans left years ago by actually having a life, or..more sadly, cannot afford to collect comics anymore.

major life change? He moving in with Jimmy?

2012-10-23 05:27:35 AM
Huh. He'll probably write for Gawker.

"Superman is arguably the most powerful person on the planet, but how long can he sit at his desk with someone breathing down his neck and treating him like the least important person in the world?"

why is this guy speaking as if superman is just another cubicle drone? superman is an alien from another planet. dagnabit i hate how they downplay that. he's not a man. not human.

2012-10-23 05:33:47 AM
So he's going to stop being such a pussy? How is this sad?

/never liked Superman
//Batman's way cooler

2012-10-23 06:38:50 AM
Hey, DC, no one cares. All the best characters are in the marvel universe.

/Except for batman.
//Iron Man is still better.

2012-10-23 07:51:24 AM
Good, he should be overseas, protecting America's interests like in The Dark Knight Returns.

I really enjoy comics, but haven't bought one in years. For no particular reason, really, although I guess a factor might be that I'd rather spend that part of my weekly budget on a car magazine than risk spending twice to four times as much on a comic I'm not sure I'll get into.

Does anyone recommend the new Superman/Batman comics?

I am enjoying Scott Snyder's Batman. They just finished up a story arc and are starting in on a Joker story. I enjoy Snyder a lot though.

Good. He was just another illegal immigrant taking an American job.

Good, he's been working there for 60 years. He needs to retire.

This.
Any longer and someone was going to get stuck with the "Daddy, what's a newspaper?" Question.

/feeling old...

I love fanboys. All they talk about is how they want good, unique, fresh, innovative stories, while keeping everything about a character the same forever.

When was the last time Clark being a reporter for the Daily Planet played a role in anything, outside of All-Star Superman?

2012-10-23 09:13:16 AM
Why does Superman need a job at all? In the old days working at a newspaper was a way for Supes to find our about stuff. Now he can just hang out on the internet to find out breaking news. I wonder what his Fark handle is?

I thought they were going to get rid of the Clark Kent I.D. entirely. I assumed it had something to do with the Siegel/Shuster lawsuit.

Yes, great move.
And he can update from anywhere at super-speed.

Talk about getting the inside scoop.
The only thing he has be be careful of is updating too fast about it
and refraining from showing a pattern of his locations and actions...that he's Superman.

I hope he gets someone else to negotiate out the ad space...he's not known for being money-oriented.

Or...he can say that he IS superman, without being Clark Kent.
Have several layers of security and non-internet direct access.
And make comments and opinions on everything he does.

But I don't think that would be politically viable long-term...sooner or later something comes back to bite you.
Better to keep it separate.

2012-10-23 10:19:11 AM
Betcha DC is going to make a blog site "Clark Kent's Blog" for the fans to go to.

Yeah, he could easily get Bruce to set it all up for him with seven proxies worth of security if he wants to post as Superman.

2012-10-23 10:50:18 AM
This should work about as well as when Marvel made Peter Parker a high school science teacher.

Or he could claim what Peter Parker was claiming when he was a photographer. That Clark is Sups friend and gets the inside scoop on Sups adventurers while they happen.

Billy Batson better not give up his radio show.

Or at least should take it in an Art Bell direction.

Superhero comics mean nothing other than being comic gateways for young readers, and IP for movie and TV adaptations.

It's from one of the greatest comics ever made:

PLANETARY.

It's a love letter to comics and adventure fiction in general by the masters Warren Ellis and John Cassaday. It's 26 issues full of awesome. Each issue deals with a different case and pays homage to / criticizes a certain character/story/phenomenom. In this case it was both Superman and the pervasive need of superhero comics to keep adding psychological baggage to make characters "relatable". Nobody cares and you end up with assholes. Look at most of Marvel casts nowadays. Insufferable dicks.

As someone who got burned badly in the 90s by his writing, he's been surprisingly tame. Nothing brilliant yet, but he's been actually doing fun comics.

Don't mess with a classic, have kent work for the website the daily planet. This way the supporting characters will be in tow.

How many issues until Batman tells Superman that his blog sucks?

2012-10-23 07:43:16 PM
Eh, perhaps it's because i started reading comics with the 90's continuities, but really, stuff like Flashpoint and One More Day just turned me off comics pretty badly. It's said, because up until then, I was enjoying most of what DC was publishing, too.

"Then why do you look like Cesar Romero?"

"Because joo don't know what Cesar Chavez looks like."

I miss Kyle Rayner.
Came into comics just as Hal was about to go insane, read GL up until they brought him back. Tried to stick with it, but turning Parallax and Ion into cosmic entities, rather than just alter-egos for Hal and Kyle.... and THEN the whole horrible rainbow Lantern mess.... just can't do it.
