If Lance Armstrong has to forfeit his Tour titles, then the NL should have to forfeit home field.

Go Giants, but go Tigers only slightly less.

I can't hate on the Giants going to the WS with Pence on their team; I love that awkward bastard. Just wish he was going with the Phils...

7th Son of a 7th Son: Too bad Miroslav Satan doesn't play for the Giants, then they'd have Satan and Pagan on their team!

lulz (I still wish Satan could have played for Jersey at some point. I would have laughed every time the Flyers played them).

Don't forget 2006, when they won their division on the strength of a whopping 83 wins. Like I said, I'm still bitter 6 years later. Between that, last year, and making it this year on a rule that literally never existed before, I was very much over them.

Don't beat yourself up : ) -- feel free to go back to the thread at the incident itself... I was the first guy to scream EAR HOLE THE NEXT DUDE!!!1111ONEITY! DIAF!!!11!

While at the time I would not have been upset if they drilled Molina, Holliday or any other Card, it took calm reflection a few minutes later to realize that the high road was much more respectable and better for the team, the series and the organization. In hindsight and after I could catch my breath, I can say, "take the high road!" At the time? I was shouting in the stands for blood just like everyone else. Another act on the part of the Giants that makes me proud to be a fan. ; )

Honestly didn't think we'd be facing the Tigers. Hope it's a great, clean, fantastic to watch series! Glad they have to come to SF, and that the boys don't have to get on a plane tonight!

Go Giants!

I think the wild card game is stupid. One season comes down to 1 game. Anyone can beat anyone in one game.

On the one hand, THIS.

On the other, his apology / my-bad expressions during the intro for the next game actually make me think, "it's done. No hard feelings." Take the high road.

But if they didn't throw at helmet after helmet after what Cousins did, with no reason whatsoever, to Posey, I think this is water under the bridge. I have no hard feelings for Holliday.

Of course, that's easy to say *now*. ; )

I've since seen a couple of photos of Holliday making "late slides" so I'm not entirely convinced that he was innocent. Now that it's been brought to national attention I'm guessing he will dial it back.

Britney Spear's Speculum: I think the wild card game is stupid.

I did -- and still kinda do -- hate the idea, until someone on Fark pointed out: Win the division over the course of the season, then. As it comes down to the wire, win out. If you can't do that, then maybe one last do-or-die game isn't out of line.

Still not entirely comfortable with the idea (baseball is, after all, about a long season not an instant's decision), but it made me a little less stabby about the idea.

Enjoy the rest of the post-season and save up your anger for what MLB is going to do with the schedule next year. They will be playing inter-league games EVERY DAY OF THE SEASON. The Giants will be playing the Yankees in late September while on a road trip to NYC to play the Mets.

It's somewhere between "enthusiastic, thoughtless mistake made in an instant of over-aggressiveness" and "desperate and/or dirty douchebag who fake-apologizes later," but, regardless, I'm proud of the Giants for taking the high road and just winning instead of retaliating.

Maybe I'm a schmuck ("maybe"?), but I kinda believe his pre-game acknowledgment/apology was sincere. Of course, maybe he got his ass kicked by Matheny or his teammates, but still....

We'll see what the attitude here at Mizzou is in the next few days. Perfect scenario: Jesus of Nazareth descends from heaven, says, "Be silent", and all the Cards fans' tongues turn to sand when they try and talk about their team.

Likely scenario: "You Royals and Cubs fans are just jealous."

Oh, don't worry: I have been angry about that for a while now. Stupid. Utterly, utterly stupid.

I've been grinding my teeth for a while. Gonna be interesting seeing what unintended consequences come out of that. It's going to be weirder (and way, way less fan-engaging than MLB management seems to imagine) than anyone expects, I bet. And less engaging / interesting / ratings enhancing.

I'm just glad it was a clean game, and no one won by hurting someone else. Thought it was going to be closer than it was, yet I was filled with stress and worry until that last out!

The current setup is honestly the best we have with 30 teams, both from a financial and competition standpoint. Unless we expand by two and go to 8 divisions (not happening anytime soon) or contract by two and go back to 4 (plain not happening), 6 divisions necessitates a wild card, and a fair schedule calls for perennial interleague. The past decade and a half with a single wild card has pretty effectively shown how much it weakened division championships, and thus the double wild card addressed that. I understand taking umbrage at it being a single game.. that's a fair complaint, but the alternative isn't really a solution (you'd be punishing the division winners with such a long delay as much as you're punishing the wild cards with extra games).

Howso? The only real issue is the timing (it can be considered "unfair" I suppose when a handful of teams are playing interleague down the stretch when the rest aren't, I suppose, but honestly that's a very minor issue). Teams are only adding 2-3 interleague games to their full schedule than present.
