I was living in Tally when they built those...they seemed to go up awfully quickly.

The Black Dahlia: The residents are all FSU and FAMU students, parties this size are actually are pretty regular occurrence in the complex.

Yeah, I've been to a lot of house parties there that were so crowded that you literally couldn't move. It was like Mardi Gras.

Cheap student housing, and this complex has had shootings and rapes. I used to own a house less than a mile from here and the whole area has turned to student ghetto. I'm glad we were able to sell before the housing bubble burst. I still drive by my old house sometimes, if I'm on that side of town, and the new owners have let the college kids destroy it. It's sad really because the neighborhood used to be a nice middle income area. Single family homes and some nicer apt. complexes. And it's not really all that close to FSU or FAMU as compared to other downtown areas that would benefit from urban renewal.

MythDragon: Wait, according to the government, once 1 floor gave away, it would start pancaking downwards in a huge chain reaction the collapsed the building straight down! Obviously 9/11 was faked or the same would have have happened here!

Well, it was only a two-story building, so...

Stick built apartments put up as quickly and cheaply as possible. It passed code when it was built, but probably hasn't been used what it has been coded for in fifteen years.

They are building alot around campus, as student housing is moving back closer to school. Some are being built right, a lot more are being built the same way as this complex.

/this was in Tally. Not the fat haven people think of when they hear Florida

Bit'O'Gristle: Some talented Farker needs to photoshop the pic and put a case of Heineken in the "victims" hands.

You are as demented as I am. That is exactly the first image that popped into my head when I saw the story pic.

so it goes something like this....

party rockin in the house tonight.... creak... creak... THUD.

Xai: if the floor is rated to hold 40lbs per square foot, and there are 2200 square feet, given 100 people that means each person at that party weighed, on average, 880lbs.

Seems legit.

OK, so a train leaves Boston going to Philadelphia at 60 MPH....

You know that old saying "if you have to explain a joke it wasn't very good in the first place"? Your joke bombed. So hard, in fact, that I assumed you meant to post your comment in another thread, which is why I was a smartass to begin with.

Of course, if you hadn't called me a prick I'd have just left it at that, so perhaps you really shouldn't have bothered.

That makes more sense, but in the context it was not at all obvious who you were calling a prick.

Snark withdrawn.

Withdrawal noted. And I managed to get my deposit back for Comedy Camp next summer. Thanks for helping me dodge that embarrassing mess. ;-)
