Tags really went to bat for the Saints in the aftermath of Katrina, and essentially told Tom Benson (owner) to shut his whore mouth after he openly flirted in the media with cities like San Antonio.

He is tough but fair and wise man. You are sorely missed, Mr. Tags. This wannabe cowboy running the show now is a pox on the league, and I'm not just referring to the Saints mess.

With this 'impartial' person hearing the case, he has no chance.

If challenging the appointment of Tagliabue will push things back another week, then the appointment will be challenged. Every week this gets pushed back is another paycheck for Mr. Vilma, and another paycheck for his legal team.

Curious: If Vilma's "one-year suspension" gets upheld, what becomes of the game(s) he'll already have played this year? Will those games carry over to next year?

He may be fair, but if he decides against the players, it will be viewed as unfair and unimpartial. Whatever happened to Peter Ueberroth. He always struck me as a decent man in charge of a dirty game. Let him judge.

They have more Lombardis in the 21st Century than my team does, so they have that going for them.

He's defending Tagliabue, so he's butthurt...?

Anyway, just pick a judge from Montana or something. Something rectangular and flat.

Um, nevermind. I had forgotten all about his participation in the owner's collusion to not sign free-agents. He's just another CEO.

Since Goodell didn't even have to appoint someone else, you'd think they'd be happy he recused himself.

I still can't believe it got this far. The NFL apparently has had nothing that is actual evidence.

So true. It's soooo past to the point of "new thread for every little legal maneuver."

Wake me when it's over.

There are no more fence-sitters on this issue, anyway.

Seriously. As far as I'm concerned, the next thread should be Berrigan's decision, because that's where it's headed anyway and anything in between there and here is just as you said, essentially "every little legal maneuver." We got real sports, fake sports, and Obama/Romney in a steel cage to talk about today, sheeeeeeeeit.
