The last couple weeks of these were fairly amusing because each QB had a character and stuck to it. This one is just generic trash talk and sucks because of it.

Yup. Also, Dalton apparently isn't aware that last night's game was in Cincinnati and no one calls him on it. And Matt Stafford stops Tweeting. Poor execution.

I'm sure we could totally do better

2012-10-22 02:22:24 PM
I will say that I like this version of Eli, however.

I particularly enjoyed (fake) Drew Brees's contributions at the end.

Same here. It was crap until then.

/and the Roger thing was dumb except for Brees at the end

Yeah if you read the Simmons thing on Friday then the stuff with Brees at the end wasn't funny. Hell, it was overdone even before Simmons did it, then Simmons beat it to death...then this thing beat the dead horse some more.

Yeah, I enjoyed the last 5-6 on this one with Godell thinking it was twitter.  The rest of this weeks was kinda meh.

I liked the 'Donkey Kong Suh' line

/His name is a farkload of scrabble points

That was a very good column from Simmons. I usually don't care for his stuff, but he was scathing in that one.

It was decent but nothing I haven't heard 1000x and he hasn't said in his podcasts repeatedly, either. I get why Saints fans would be happy about it, but it was meh. It's like people getting on the "maybe Lance Armstrong is a liar" train now. C'mon, the sh*t was obvious BS the whole time.

In fairness, I stopped reading his stuff years ago (even before Olbermann knocked his work as "word salad") and have never listened to his podcasts, so any material that was recycled from past work was unnoticeable to me. There are only so many times I can read about his dad, Sports Gal, "Rounders," "Hoosiers" and the "Karate Kid" somehow pastiched into every sports topic under the sun.

Personally, I thought it was hilarious. I even learned a brand new word, Dickcakes.

I LOVE these things but count me in with the "this one wasnt as good crowd" It had its moents but not near as good as 1 or 2. Nobody dogged Vick for the dog thing. And Ponder could have been used a lot more effectively. I did love Donkey Kong Suh.

Likewise. I was pleasantly surprised. And anyone who doesn't see "Brees'" point is naive. You don't have to agree with what the Saints did, but even the dimmest among you can see what the NFL's real motivation is.

/And "Brees" is right about our defense. Jesus Christ, my grandmother can throw on this secondary. And she's been dead for a year now.

It jumped the shark after the first one.

It's like that guy at a party who is drinking and comes up with a funny line that everyone laughs at, then all of a sudden he thinks he's the funniest guy in the room. Then everything that comes out of his mouth is awkward and reeks of trying to hard.

I miss when they all had unique personalities. Romo acts like Rivers used to act. Nobody seems to be consistent.

Also holy shiat can we stop with the Sports Center Eli-RG3 orgasm? The recap for that game is dripping with Sports-Center spunk but both QBs in that game weren't even close to the best QBs this week. They both had 2 turnovers and the constantly rotating "Mr. 4th Quarter" Eli graphic conveniently skips the fact that Eli threw a pick in the 4th. Yet the other two QBs in the division get a GRUELING slow-mo breakdown of every turnover they commit.

They're so neurotic about both those QBs. Just media-hyping that to the extreme. If you watched a RG3 highlight you'd think the Redskins were 6-0.

Still crying because it's not all cowboys all the time? Last year you got your taint twisted because it was Tebow, so now it's RG3?

STFU and pay your bet, biatch.

I'm not clicking any more of these.

I don't think Drew Brees is in any position to call out other teams' defense. Should be a hell of a game though. The wankfest over Brees vs. Manning all week will be epic.

2012-10-22 06:16:49 PM
Yeah...this wasn't as good this week except for the Brees comment at the end.

/no love for Smith

This was the 1st time I had read this weekly post, and I have to say that I found it amusing. Some of it was witty. Different strokes for different folks.

dugitman: I like Eli and Rodgers. More dry-smartass Russell Wilson, please.

Followed by more frothy-mouthed Rodgers screaming "I WILL MURDER YOU IN YOUR SLEEP WILSON." Rodgers should NEVER get over that game.

See, I would've put Weeden's appearance right after Manning made the Weinke ref on Cam Newton.

Maybe it's because I'm easily amused, but I will never find these not funny.
