I couldn't resist that game when I saw it.

Biollante was one of the best and was so much bigger than Godzilla it tried to eat him.

The Smog Monster Hedorah was a sick shape changer that racked up the biggest body count in all the Godzilla movies.

swahnhennessy: The only good thing about Cloverfield was the concept of doing a rampaging monster movie from the perspective of the inconsequential people running amok through the streets. To capture the horror they have when Something Big shows up. Otherwise, it was hell to sit through.

Yeah, the entire Blair Witch look and basic sameness sucked. However the concept of teasing us with a few good shots where you see something you have never seen before ( The entire point of a monster movie) and not something you have seen before ( a guy in a rubber suit) is still good. The concept would perhaps have been better if they were reviewing footage and giving us some stabil shots of WTF was goign on now, instead of WTF they found in a crap heap. Which is why teh move is kinda of a crap heap./
I do own a copy, legal one. But only to make the neighbor's kid behave. He's not allowed to watch it until he
s older and better behaved. But it sits on his pile of promised DVDs, I have donated to him that he may watch as part of his library, at his parents' descretion.
We saw transformers together when I was babysitting him saturday, so he won't be too scarred or scared by cloverfield.

You can argue that any one of those is the "proper" one.

What about the giant bronze Talos in Jason and the Argonauts? awesome

/btw does anyone but my brother think that Godzilla's kid looked like Gary Coleman?

2012-10-22 02:39:02 PM
I liked Cloverfield. It's not a great movie, but I don't regret seeing it. What was disappointing was that they did absolutely nothing to tie it into the ARG that was running up until the movie's release, aside from a small easter egg in the last scene. I wouldn't mind seeing a Cloverfield 2 that had a little more plot to it.

2012-10-22 02:39:14 PM

Soulcatcher: I've never seen Cloverfield. That was an interesting clip. The monster is really creepy and different. I suppose I'll have to watch it at some point now.

The clip you watched contained nearly all the scenes that actually showed the monster. Clover was the shyest monster ever. He got very little screen time. Also, if you decide to watch the movie take your motion sickness pills beforehand. The endless shaky cam nearly made me toss my cookies, and there were several folks in the audience that did in fact hurl.

/My opinion, which is worth exactly very little.
//You might like the flick.
///Best of luck.

Dr. Whoof: Gunny Highway: SirLothar: There's a remake of Godzilla being made?

Didn't the Matthew Broderick movie kill any interest in this back in the 90's?

If it didn't, it should have.

/yes I'll probably go see it.

[netflix.hs.llnwd.net image 284x405]

Best part of that movie is Godzilla beating the crap out of the Broderick "Zilla". 30 seconds of pure awesome.

I don't know why Troll Hunter wasn't mentioned at all. Has the cool positive aspects that Cloverfield did while having the large monster size that makes all the others on the list look like play toys.

And the original Alien was onscreen for even LESS time. All of the complaints except 'shakeycam' would apply to Alien as well. At home the motion in Cloverfield isn't much of a problem - when the screen engulfs your vision, sure it can make some people queazy. I think Cloverfield did a great job at what it was trying to do. It showed just enough to scare you.

Good flick for sure. Someone told me about a movie similar, but it was about an evil Santa Clause. But I forgot the title.

Cloverfield is a movie that is a DOJ video. The shakycam effect didn't work well on a huge theater screen. If you didn't like in the theaters, watch it on a small screen (I watched it on a laptop). The movie seemed to be more 'realistic' and has that leaked YouTube video feel to it.

Soulcatcher: ModernPrimitive01: Cloverfield is just awful. What about the creature from the Host? Would have been much better at #10.

Pretty much why I haven't seen it. I heard it was bad. I do like the way the monster looks and moves though.

THe plot, the characters..blech..but oh, what a monster. It was worth the ride in the movie theaters. The tantalizing glimpses, and then you finally see all of it. Super creative. LOVED it for the monster.

Cloverfield... That was the one where Voltron traveled back in time to destroy New York City instead if defending the universe like he normally does, right?

I remember because some guy on the internet said he heard one of the characters say "It's a Lion!" Therefore: Voltron.

rogue49: Sorry, I've always preferred Gamera over Godzilla.
He's awesome.

Godzilla...big and got flame/laser breath...not too intelligent. Eh.

Gamera:
Protective shell.
Flies in two modes - forward by just his two leg areas...even better, UFO mode, all four leg hold aflame & spinning.
Flame breath or laser eyes.
Intelligent and aware.
And he's got skills!!

You've GOT TO love the Gymnastic bar routine he did against the knife-head creature.

Plus, Gamera is a friend to all children!

Godzilla: Finally. The recognition I deserve!

LOL.

Well those are very nice.

Also, my dad took me to see KK at opening night and I am 100% sure it wasn't rated R. I participated in the local "King Kong Coloring Contest" and I don't think they marketed R-rated movies to kids that way. It probably did have the boobs - kind of like Airplane which also had brief nudity.

This.

The film was never rated R. Paramount would never have released it in such a fashion. Too much money riding on it.

No love for the Sarlacc? It only ate the most popular bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe, but presumably Jabba's ship, the debris, the dead, and any survivors still trapped on the barge. All without getting out of its seat.

Also, list fails without including Rosie O'Donnel in Exit to Eden. She popped up on the screen in that bondage dressing room montage and I nearly soiled my armor.

I never had a problem with Zilla itself. The creature design is cool, and making him fast, a great jumper, and a quick burrower was nice. My problem was the lack of breath weapon, toughness, and the feel of Zilla being a force of nature created by man's hubris. Roland and Emmerich wanted a "Realistic" monster, which (when it comes to something like Godzilla) is a huge no-no. The rest of the movie, though, was complete and utter garbage.

At least Zilla Jr. got to be the badass his father wasn't in Godzilla: The Series. All the speed, agility, and burrowing of Dad plus the breath, toughness, and savage intellect of Godzilla.

www.seibertron.com

Also, this is the best Godzilla video game:

upload.wikimedia.org

You can play as Anguirus, Baragon, Biollante, Destoroyah, Fire Rodan, Gigan, Godzilla 2000, Jet Jaguar, King Caesar, King Ghidorah, Kiryu (MechaGodzilla Millennium), Krystalak (a new monster), MechaGodzilla (Showa), MechaGodzilla 2 (Heisei), Mecha-King Ghidorah, Megaguirus, Megalon, MOGUERA, Mothra, Obsidius (another new monster), Orga, Titanosaurus, and Varan, with Godzilla 1990s and Godzilla 1954 available for multiplayer; smash and crush Sydney, London, Osaka, Tokyo, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Monster Island, and the Vortaak Mothership; the story mode is well done; the multiplayer is so much fun; and it's just an amazing game. Get the Wii version, though, the PS2 version is just a reskin of the prequel game Save The Earth and has nothing new.

/King Kong was going to be in it, but Universal wanted $1 million dollars for him, Toho only charged $25,000 for each monster
