Pffft, my granddad just turned 100, got letters from Samuel Alito and Elena Kagan, plus the head of the FBI, and had a congressman there. He also flew with Amelia Earhardt, killed a lion with a bow, and argued in front of the supreme court. Plus he's still a practicing lawyer, and they just renewed his driver's license. He even actually walked to school barefoot in the snow. His mom thought if he wore shoes they'd be wet all day, but if he went barefoot they'd dry out faster. Really.

No onion on belt though.

/I'm not living up to the family name.

...visits from Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R-8), who advised Hartshorne on some federal benefits that may be available to assist her father,

What? Why would a Republican be trying to get him federal benefits? Isn't that socialism? Must be a RINO.

One thing I never understood about Normandy was how those landing craft stayed afloat with all those giant brass balls on board.

But both Bill & Lady Wife Josie look very good for 104 & 95 respectively. Keeping his head down while toting the gun allowed him to stay here to reach this foto op.
Votied for this bcs I could.
Also thank you very much for your service long ago Mr Mohr!

Actually the Republican Congressman slapped him for a parasitic 47%er.

I've made it a point to talk to a few people who served in WW2, to hear their stories. What struck me is how it was still with them, a part of them that never leaves. For us it's in the history books, for them it's a living breathing thing. Talking with someone and asking questions does more to help you understand war than all the photos and documentaries ever could.

Oh, and thanks Mr. Mohr.

FTFA He was part of the invasion of southern France (Anvil) which was a couple weeks after Normandy and not opposed (his personal story not withstanding). Anzio, on the other hand, was opposed and pretty bloody.

A 36 year old regular GI storming German held beaches? Totally deserves the hero tag for just being there, but I'm thinking he waded in several days after the beachhead was established and was more of a rear esch kinda guy.
