I don't get why so many sports fans hate the WNBA. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I don't watch monster truck pulls or the WWE or tennis, but i'm not jumping into every monster truck/wwe/ tennis thread to deride it.

if the NBA has enough COH to subsidize the sport and tv networks are willing to air it, that's their business.

Does a place exist where people don't mock things they think are stupid for being stupid? Lots of people think that the WNBA is stupid, and therefore, mock it.

apparently Turkey, Russia, Germany, and I think the UAE (of all places) have very lucrative women's leagues. I read a diana taurasi interview a few years ago where she said she gets PAID to play in I think Russia, whereas her WNBA salary was pretty meager, al things considerd.

i can see that but the vitriol for the WBNA is off the charts. the guy that has a home, away, and alternate jersey for Brady/Brees/RGIII/Wilson/Rodgers and has a huge mancrush on him is also the first to deride WNBA fans for being lesbians. irony much?

I cannot explain it, I am just describing it. Same with the general Cowboys hate for NFL fans. There are a few reasons that it exists, but none are really valid outside of fans of divisional opponents.

//I don't dislike the WNBA, NBA, NHL, soccer, or fringe sports, I just don't pay attention to them. I don't hate the Cowboys either.

And lo, just as it was written by the network programming profit, from the flyover wilderness came a white knight defendinng the entertainment value of the WNBA, here to lead the unwashed heathens to enlightened fanhood and crazy mad fundamental skillz.

make no mistake, i'm not a fan of the WNBA. It is just one of those thigns in the sports wrold I don't pay attention to, but the way sports fans criticize it just seems odd. it verges on personal, as if the WNBA farked their girlfriend or something.

(i know, "lol, it probably did, they're all lesbians lol!")

WNBA salaries are between 30-90k, with only a few superstars reaching near the high end. I'd be real curious what the other leagues pay, but wouldn't be shocked at all to know that an average salary there blows our salaries out of the water

dletter: Although most would joke that there are probably more people in the bathrooms at a Colts game at any one time than care about the Fever... the Fever did have 15,000 for their Finals winning game, so, good for them.

When the Billings Bulls played at the Metra, they pulled in about 13,000 a game. At one point maybe four or five years ago, one-eighth of the population of Billings was in attendance for a regular season game.

What I'm saying is this: Dammit, Bettman, give Billings an NHL franchise.

Also; good on the Fever.

Just like the atlanta dream had a full house when they were in the finals, the problem is that most were free tickets and vendors down there said the arena was maybe half full, even shiatty years for the hawks had more people at the arena.

I dont understand why people still insist on saying the WNBA is successful.
