This is who the news media has to deal with to get ratings. And people call me a moron for saying that there is no media conspiracy to destroy either the Tea Party or OWS that it is just the media focusing on the idiots of both

/Well, I am a moron, but thats besides the point

How many times has "Sarah Palin topless" been Googled? Or "Romney's dancing horse"? Or "Obama's birth certificate"?

Anyway, I don't think people are searching for Ryan beefcake pics because he's just such a hottie that legions of repressed Republican housewives (and closeted Republican husbands) are tapping to those P90X pecs. More likely because he's such a farking tool.

There were spikes in searches for "McCain life expectancy" after Sarah Palin was named as his vice presidential candidate; ditto for the day after Palin's famous interview with Katie Couric.

I don't care who ya are, that's funny right there

Dont bother. Its called "Path to Prosperity" and it repeals Obamacare, turns Medicaid over to the states, turns Medicare into a voucher program, and tort reform for the poor doctors. Heritage Foundation loves it.

That's actually a very interesting thought. If only there were some way to filter the results for legit searches vs pics for hilarious photoshop fodder. That would be cool to see.

Like I've said in the past, 40% of the country would vote for Saddam Satan bin Vader-Hitler (R) over a black Democrat. When it comes to the 60% with an IQ higher than their shoe size, though, there has been a lot of WTFing. It just doesn't get much news coverage because it doesn't pull in ratings.

There's a lot of "WTF?" over Romney. While watching a news piece over the debates, and just how horrible Obama is, my dad got angrier and angrier before standing up and saying "It's like that book 1984" and storming out. This was from a man who has dropped the n word as often as he says the word damn for the past 65 years, and he voted for Obama in 08 and will again this year. the republicans have gotten so crazy they made a racist not just vote for, but proudly vote for, a black guy.

Now my best friends wife who is a die hard conservative with tons of Romney signs in their yard was upset last summer when she couldn't find a QRay wellness bracelet at the bass pro shop. see her cousin said it cured his leg pain, so it must work.

Twitt can't do politics! He SUCKED as Governor of Massachusetts! Why is that not the end of the story, here? No one in MA is voting for the sob. He keeps lying about having balanced the budget, whereas he left a nearly 1 billion dollar deficit! He takes credit for improvements to education that were the result of a lot of slogging for many years by others before him! He calls the students who benefited from the system "my kids"! He's a complete slimeball!

And why does he always walk as if he is having a colonoscopy?

Pall Ryan? A soulless idiot without a conscience. He's capable of stringing sentences together in a way that someone who didn't speak English might mistake for coherency. Imagine him as president.

"Mitt visited that poor car accident victim family and you know what? He sacrificed a lot out of his $200m fortune and said he'd pay for college for the two boys. MITT DOESN'T TALK ABOUT THIS! HE IS FAR TOO HUMBLE, PIOUS, AND GALLANT! He only instructs me to do it on his behalf. He only wrote that part of my speech. Oh, and even though government doesn't create jobs and we want smaller government, look to us to create jobs. We override all notions of logic and rationality and progress and common sense. We are the ambiguously fey duo."

Screw you and your unimpressive physique, LYIN' RYAN. Go suck down some raw eggs.

If Kirk ever saw the error of his ways he never said anything about it. Florida's approach to the entire era is to just not talk about it and try to pretend it didn't happen in hopes that everybody forgets that they were just as bad as Alabama or Mississippi.

I think Romney really broke some Republicans. The enthusiasm gap around here (Southeastern Michigan, Downriver) is amusing: I didn't see a single Romney/Ryan sign until after the first debate, but that's it. Most of the billboards around the Metro Detroit area pushing the whole 'do you support abortion and birth control' signs died out around July and August. The local news media is defending the right-wing as best it can, but on the whole the Republicans have given up early this time around. I don't really see anybody backing Romney as much as they're throwing out half-hearted support and hoping/'praying for the best.'

On the whole, it doesn't come off as disappointment as much as it's finding a rationale to continue being angry and bitter towards anybody but Romney. I think that's one of the reasons why the media is trying to make this a horserace: an Obama win would give the right-wingers a chance to be angry again, somehow renewing their enthusiasm and pushing through four more years of more insults, more rage, more everything. Then again, look what this constant angerfest from 2009 (and 2011, when it kicked up a notch) has done: most Republicans are burnt out.

Guntram Shatterhand: Most of the billboards around the Metro Detroit area pushing the whole 'do you support abortion and birth control' signs died out around July and August.

When I was visiting Cleveland, I saw a whooooollle bunch of "Vote AGAINST Obama" billboards of varying stripes. None got overtly racist, but apparently Pennsyltucky has that covered- a friend passing through the area mentioned seeing plenty of "Take back the WHITE House" signs.

I doubt it is as high as 50/50 - some Democrat voters will be just as brainless, they have just been conditioned to heedlessly follow the party that happens to still be in the range of sane politics, but only by coincidence. Very hard not to write off all Republican voters though, a few years into Bush II the Republican party should have been completely dead politically.

If we elect these idiots I'm sure we'll get the 4 or 8 years we deserve. Meaning we'll be a total banana republic before it's over.

Many Americans would read your post and think "Hey, that's not so bad. A giant clothing retailer means lots of jobs, right?"

Just keep that in mind.

Nice, but in light of the superior smirk apparently locked to his face I would go with Ryan's Paulsy.

What a double whammy. They are even too stupid to realize that the 1%ers owning the "giant clothing retailer" won't hire someone in the U.S. unless absolutely necessary. See.. stupid all around.

Uncoincidentally, 1980 marks the ascendancy of big money lobbyists in Washington. Everyone should read about the history of the lobbyist industry and weep.

We won't likely get the country or government I'd prefer, but I think claiming we'd go all the way to a banana republic might, possibly, be a bit of a stretch. Then again, this is a politics thread and reason was left at the Entertainment tab.

Wisconsin is the drunkest state. Milwaukee the drunkest city. Scott Walker and Paul Ryan are both from that general area. It is not only possible that they have alcohol fetal syndrome, it's likely. Lots of kids around the Milwaukee and Fox Valley areas do. Why not them? Walker and Ryan both have the same general look the white girl in the upper left hand picture has.

Here's the original source that Gawker is parsing. The most interesting finding was that the most popular google searches that combined Obama's name with another term in the states where Obama is losing by double digits was "Obama n*gger" and/or "Obama KKK". So just remember it's not about race, it's policy.

I'd bet Paul Ryan shaves his balls. For aerodynamics, rather than hygiene.

I think its funny that Gawker is complaining about this when I'm pretty sure they had an article about this very thing.

Even better, if RRepublicans win, we can depend on their "small" government to get us 12 million jobs! Because as Mitt says, shortly after he says as POTUS he'll create 12 million jobs: "Government doesn't create jobs!" You see, this pledge to create jobs has a diffeRent meaning when RRepubs make it. Obama says he'll help create manufacturing jobs by removing corporate tax incentives to outsource jobs: he means government jobs, you see. Uh-huh.

Fluorescent Testicle: Like I've said in the past, 40% of the country would vote for Saddam Satan bin Vader-Hitler (R) over a black Democrat.

To be fair, if Mr. Vader-Hitler were running as a Democrat there are a lot of folks who would vote for him instead of whatever Republican opponent.

On the other hand, any politician affiliated Republican has to do enough pandering to the Teabaggers that one couldn't count on them for sane governance, even if that politician was actually sane. Democrats have to pander all across the spectrum, so the effect is not as pronounced.

The "it was a different time" argument is why my university opposed a student effort to get the school to rename the student union building. It's currently honoring a dude who not only was a segregationist (oh, but there are no bullet holes in buildings like in Mississippi, so he should be praised for a non-violent integration), he fully cooperated with the state legislature's witch hunt against anyone who seemed remotely gay. But it was a different time so he should be forgiven for dragging students and faculty in to be grilled in extra-judicial processes because you've got to root out anyone who is more susceptible to being a commie.
