This was my first FarkUs submission. Sorry if I did it wrong.

Anyway, I put my latest up on Amazon today. It's somewhere between horror and thriller. Here's the blurb:

A childhood accident put Dan Mackenzie in a wheelchair, but he hasn't let that slow him down. He's made a good life for himself in the Florida panhandle, working as a computer geek and playing basketball with his buddies on the weekends. That's where he notices the pretty woman with eyes as green as the Gulf of Mexico watching him. He works up the nerve to introduce himself, and the two hit it off.

On the way to their first date someone tries to kill her, and Dan's heroic effort to save her profoundly changes his life. The two have become separated, and now Dan is fast learning that people are not at all what they seem. There are powers at work he never dreamed existed.

Worst of all, they really want him dead.

It's ~104,000 words, 375 pages, and hopefully it doesn't suck.

What? No discount for fellow TFers?

I would, but there's not any way to do that that I know of. I enrolled it in the Amazon Select program, which means they're the only place that carries it.

Eh...it takes place in Florida. I know from being here I should stay away from anything having to do with Florida.

Well, technically only a little bit happens in Florida. He gets out of Dodge pretty quickly.

Of course, he goes to Alabama and Mississippi, so things may not improve terribly.

Just giving you crap good sir.

I have a free borrow left this month and you book is getting it.

I've always wondered. What does the author get for the free borrow?

Wanebo: I've always wondered. What does the author get for the free borrow?

It's about two bucks, give or take. They set aside a chunk of money each month (I think it's $700,000 for October), then when the month is over they divide the number of borrows into the dollars set aside and divvy it equally among everyone on a per-borrow basis. It works out pretty well, generally, because it gets you readers you might not have gotten otherwise.

Thanks for the borrow -- I hope you enjoy it.

Awwww... and you even ghost-wrote a review for someone to post. How precious.

/In all seriousness, congrats. I'm too farking lazy to actually write any more. Good on you for seeing things through.

Well, the price is right. The immediate review is suspicious. I may grab it anyway when I get home from work.

For the record, the immediate review came from a beta / advance copy reader. She's legit, even thanked in the acknowledgements at the end of the book.

okaykleek: thanks and I hope you enjoy it!

Great Book!

i've been meaning to self-publish books on amazon for a couple years now. i have like 5 complete or almost-complete novels sitting on my computer just begging to be published. unfortunately, almost all of the writing i've done for the past 5 or 6 years has been fan fiction (resident evil, mostly), so of course i can't try to sell that. all my original novels were written like 6 or more years ago and they aren't up to my current personal standards. so i'd have to edit and rewrite them, and i hate editing and rewriting. so i guess i'm just too lazy. but sometime next year i'm determined to get a new original novel finished and stick it on amazon. and if i can make even a tiny bit of money, that would motivate me strongly to get my other works published as well.

I want to read this, but I dislike the handicap.

/I put it on my wishlist though and will slog through it shortly.
