Well Done!

I did get a tad confused by TFA. Are people pulling support because they are anti-Romney and think the soup kitchen should have violently pushed Ryan out the door or are they pro-Romney offended that the soup kitchen disavowed any connection with the campaign?

Is the Romney campaign using those photos?

The Romney campaign has been using the Paul Ryan photos. Or they were originally until there was criticism. People are pulling support from the soup kitchen because the man running it criticized Ryan's using it as a photo op.

Ryan apparently wasn't even washing dirty dishes. Just showed up to make it look like he was helping or doing good. The people that run the soup kitchen said the Ryan people bullied their way into this. And the owner would have preferred it not being done there because he liked to be apolitical.

So now some Republicans are pulling their money away from supporting a soup kitchen...all because their jerkwad of a VP candidate's people set this bullsh*t thing up.

Some of the links get into the details. The charity's president was very vocal about Ryan's group being pretty pushy and called the whole thing a phony photo-op, so I it seems pretty likely that it's the pro-Romney/Ryan folks who are pulling their support.

The whole thing - including the harsh words from the charity itself - made Ryan look bad, so I can't imagine why Dems/liberals or independents would pull their support.

Yeah, gotta love the logic of punishing the soup kitchen for Ryan making himself look like a jackass.

That makes the most sense, given who is likely to be supporting St.Vincent de Paul in the first place. Nothing against St. Vincent, but its supporters are not likely to be free-thinkers.

Well, there's that. But there's probably some Catholic rage about politicizing one of the best aspects of the Church, an innocuous, apolitical, non-profit group that tries to live up Christ's teachings. I am one of those.

The rules are simple and not much open to debate:
For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in: Naked, and you covered me: sick, and you visited me: I was in prison, and you came to me. Then shall the just answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee; thirsty, and gave thee drink? And when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and covered thee? Or when did we see thee sick or in prison, and came to thee? And the king answering, shall say to them: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to me.
Note that SVdP doesn't preach.

It was the criticism that Ryan got from them that caused people to pull donations. People probably from Ryan's side of Catholicism, not from my side of it.

The criticism was involving a non-political group in a political campaign. SVdP is totally non-partisan, and wishes to remain so.

So why did they let the asshole in AT ALL? It says they were "Bullied."

What, was the Ryan campaign just walking down the street, said "Oh, hey, this looks like a nice place." and then they strolled in and said "we'd like to take some pictures." "No." "It's a nice soup kitchen you've got here...be a shame if something were...to...happen to it.....you know?"

Chances are the volunteer wasn't authorized to give permission nor did they have the authority to tell Ryan to leave.

if Paul Ryan had any moral compass he would publicly apologize for the damage he has done to this charity and make a large non-political affiliation donation to atone for his stupidity. No, I'm not holding my breath waiting for this to happen.

Screw you, Paul Ryan. You should be ashamed of yourself. Hopefully you and your family will never know what it is like to be a hungry homeless American. You piece of shiat.

I can't decide how to feel about this

Feeding the homeless = good
Churches = bad
Right wing presidential campaign looks like shiat = good
People stop giving money to church = good
People doing it because they made the right wing look like shiat = bad
People giving money back to the church = bad

It seems like people that stopped giving are doing the right thing for the wrong reason and the people giving money are doing the wrong thing for the right reason and I'm going cross eyed thinking about it.

Does anyone have a link to a non faith biased homeless program in the area that I can donate to so the people in need get help but I don't have to feel dirty about giving money to a church
