That's because Robert Downey Jr is Tony Stark.

Iron Man will always be remembered for one of the most perfect casting choices in movie history.

On a related note, I can't believe we've entered the realm of teaser trailers for the teaser trailers.

That's how good RDJ is as an actor. Iron Man in the comics is about as likable as Mister Fantastic

/too be far, that is going to far as an insult
//why do people join the side opposing Cap when he's always right?

Cap was wrong in A vs X, despite how Marvel is spinning it.

No, Magneto was right.

To expand on my though a bit, i guess because when reading a comic, you suspend belief entirely, so you expect (and want) crazy shiat to happen. In a movie, you want to get drawn more into the reality of it. In that frame of mind, you are more willing to believe that something like Iron Man can happen (and lord knows there are R&D men working on it right now), but you tend less to believe that someone will have naturally occurring laser eyes, teleportation ability, or radioactive spider blood.

When i was a kid, i was only casually into comics, but i always hated iron man. Oh boy, some guy in a suit. great. It just didnt have that supernatural element to it that many other comics had (X-men, spiderman, superman, etc).

Now, as far as the movies go, Iron Man is by far the best of them. I'm sure RDJ has a lot to do with that.

Nothing like a stint in jail to make a boy a man, and a man an actor.

I mean that in all seriousness.

At least Iron Man can blame the alcohol. What's Mr. Fantastic's excuse?

You're too dumb to understand his awesomeness.

Yes that's his reasoning.

He's so awesome in fact that there is an entire super group made up of different universe's Richards. That's right in every single time line in every single universe there is a Reed Richards and every single one of them rocks.

And RDJ was the greatest casting in everyone of those universe as well. With Patrick as Professor X a distant second

WhippingBoy: Fun Dumpster: Snapper Carr: Looks like they're (finally) going with The Mandarin and also it's going to incorporate the Extremis story arc which means it could potentially be good.

Mandarin, Extremis, and Iron Patriot. This is starting to look like too much shiat crammed into one movie.

I'm waiting for Demon in a Bottle...

They did that in Iron-Man 2 already.

Khellendros: With that many main characters, they had to ditch the romance stories. Notice Hulk didn't have his girl around, and Natalie Portman was nowhere to be seen as well. Pepper was more prominent, but still had to take a very distant back seat.

Not typical for Avengers in the comics, no Hawkeye boinking Mockingbird , no Hank Pym doing S&M with Janet Van Dyne, and Hulk and The Leader? Forget about it....

That's the thing. The Marvel universe hasn't pandered to the hardcore fanboys as much as they've just darnit tried to make good movies that'll make a crapload of money. Mickey Rourke was never referred to as 'Whiplash', and he didn't need to be for the audience to get it. Chucking out elitist crap like 'mandarin' and 'extremis story arc' means exactly jack squat to the millions upon millions of people who watched the first 2+1 movies without a single idea of all the comics' back stories, mainly because RDJ made the physical depiction of the character so enjoyable and entertaining, they didn;t need to research the back story to know the character.

And that's a testament to Downey Jr, Favreau and Abrams, but mostly Robert that Tony Stark is a name known worldwide with such reverence without a page of printed papyrus being turned.

That's an awesome cast and I hope the script doesn't let them down.

You can tell exactly nothing from the "trailer" but let's hope it's better than the second one.
