His living room is very important to him, and he doesn't anyone to mess with his houseplants or his doilies.

Subby, one of us must have a really skewed sample set, because I have never seen a "Christmas village" in someone's home.

So, entirely possible that it's reading comprehension problems on my end- but they do this just for themselves? They don't let folks come through?

Where I grew up, we had a super-cool, super-nice family close by my home, went to school with their sons, blahblahblah.
Anyway, they'd move all of their 1st floor furniture, and make a walk-through haunted house. It even had a section that split off for the tiny kids- the more gruesome section for the elders.
It was great. I swear Roseanne's show stole the idea from them.

yeah, my biatch aunt has a christmas village and when she was (squatting) staying with my grandma suddenly grandma's living room had an ugly and heavy shelf installed up over the old console tv and the whole thing was blinking and glowing like WhoVille.

Thankfully she has her "own" "house" (trailer) (grandma paying the rent) so I won't have to see the stupid thing.

However, my bf really wants a halloween village. i think i'm okay with that.

What is it with news articles describing something that is visually impressive and having a shiatty set of pictures? I was hoping that the measly two pictures in the linked article would enlarge, but no.

/fail journalism? you bet
