Because it's totally cool to subvert democracy in order to save democracy. Or something.

Shows a lot of confidence in both their candidate, their party platform, and respect for democracy as a whole.

I can go to Obama's Web site and download people's phone numbers???

It seems like the Tea Party has kinda been muzzled this time around.
I haven't really heard too much about them .... Meeting up, staging protests, etc.

Or have I mastered the art of "ignore" IRL?

Isn't it cute that they think the people in the phone bank list only get called once? That just shows how the Romney-Ryan people don't have anywhere near the level of organization that Obama's campaign does. I believe the Obama campaign is operating on the statistics that it requires a minimum of 8 contacts to get someone into the "voted" column, so these people are going to be getting a half dozen or more calls in addition to the tea party idiots gaming the system.

When their Big Lie of "OMG OBAMBA IS GUNNA RAISE TAXES!" does not really pan out after a full term it tends to put a lid on the enthusiasm.

"We're taxed enough already!"

"Perhaps, but the President has not raised your taxes during his first term."

"If you don't feel comfortable knocking on doors, making phone calls or volunteering at a specific time or location then this might be just down your alley. You can from the comfort of your home on your computer use Obama's own call tool to fill out responses of folks on their call list without even having to talk with them. This will remove them from their call list. This is not being dishonest. You can answer neutral to the questions posed. Just get them off their call list and reduce the pool of eligible voters for them to contact. The alternative is to make the phone call and ask the question as a 'volunteer' not an Obama volunteer and make the case for a Romney/Ryan vote."

2012-10-21 04:53:45 PM
Looking at Lee912's message board is kind of depressing. Lots of threads by Joe Magnant but no replies and very few views. Of course, the thread urging people to sabotage the Obama campaign's call list is deleted, but it would definitely be a shame if Farkers were to sign up with throwaway e-mails and post in the other threads. That would be really bad and frowned upon.

Wouldn't they be better off voting for Obama who is guaranteed for only four years??

Here's the thing you're missing. The Tea Party is going to vote for the (R) no matter what. The guy could come out and rape a baby and they'd support him. This has nothing to do with what they believe. They are Republicans and will vote Republican no matter what. If the (R) doesn't believe what they do or is a bad candidate, or whatever... they only need to find a reason to cast a vote for him. In 2008, they were voting for Palin while "holding their nose" for McCain. In 2012, they're voting for Ryan or just biting the bullet and voting for Romney because he's better than Obama.

Make no mistake. If the guy has an (R) next to his name, he's getting the Tea Party vote. No matter what.

I had a friend on Facebook say even though Romney actually signed an assault weapons ban, he says it's better than Obama because Obama believes it more in his heart.

Yeah... one guy did something fundamentally against his party's grain, which is better than another guy who might merely believe something.

I have had that exact conversation. They usually continue by saying the only thing holding Obama back was that he had to worry about reelection. If he's still in office after November, then he'll really come for the guns.

But why even bother with the whole "for four years"??? Do they think Romney will quit after four years then another Republican will step up??

So, you can justify and defend it because your feeble and diseased mind can create an alternate fantasy timeline where the exact same thing is done by "your" political opponents versus "your team" (you know, like in the real universe). That makes you a very metaphysical cockwad. Shine on you crazy string theorist.
