Now is not the time to have a conversation about gun control.

2012-10-21 01:32:13 PM
Damn, poor folks.

2012-10-21 01:32:31 PM
I'll be thankful if this doesn't interrupt any of the Packer game. Thanks a lot for doing this right as football starts, mystery shooter/asshat.

2012-10-21 01:32:31 PM
I hope Obama calls this an act of terrorism within the next 24 hours.

The article is 7 sentences long with no details... why talk about gun control when you can just jump to conclusions?

It never is. It would embarrass the poor guns. Think of the guns, man!

2012-10-21 01:32:58 PM
Witnesses described people crying near the Azana Spa, which is near the mall.

spurned lover is my guess.

Probably a bears fan

Of course not. Gun control people use these shootings to make money for the gun control factories and gun control dealers.

2012-10-21 01:34:11 PM
If only there were some way we could diagnose crazy people and let gun store owners know they shouldn't sell their wares to those individuals.

2012-10-21 01:34:15 PM
i'm too lazy to google for it but...wasn't this on the list of 'john titor' predictions? not this incident specifically but the rise in mass shooting incidents in general.

if we end up in his timeline i'm going to head down to florida and kick the ass of every gotdamn whiny 12 year old I see. smug arrogant little bastard of a time traveler.

2012-10-21 01:34:25 PM
What's the over-under on length of time for Romney to use this as a political club on Obama?

Only if the religion of the shooter can be confirmed

The 'mass shooting' part might be a giveaway.

/But really, what exactly is going to be different about this shooting from the hundreds of others we have every year here in the good ol' USA?

2012-10-21 01:34:37 PM
great.

I am just now getting ready to leave my home for a shopping run.

When I get back I fully expect this thread to be loaded with maximum D E R P

Right, because a mass shooting might have nothing at all to do with guns.

Glorious freedom deaths!

most GOP voters wouldn't be able to own handguns then....

No, it's not. But now is a great time to have a conversation about why some people become murderers. Now is a great time to have a conversation about the ineffectiveness of psychiatric treatment and the poor followthrough of care with people who have known mental illness. Now is a great time to have a conversation about why some people who desperately need help fall through the cracks, and others who don't need it find ways to scam the system for free money and drugs.

2012-10-21 01:35:14 PM
And we'd never want to open a discussion about the crappy state of mental health coverage in this country, because that would be socialist, and mental health problems are a sign of weakness and an inability to suck it up, cupcake.

Livestream is saying that someone opened fire inside Azana Spa. Witness ran into Brookfield Square mentioning a machine gun.

Froedtert Hospital reporting four people treated on for non-critical injures, three more on the way.

2012-10-21 01:35:58 PM
Now would, however, be a fine time to talk about the poor state of mental health care in this country.

Yes, universal healthcare with mental health coverage would be a good idea, but somehow I don't think that's what you have in mind.

our culture frowns on weakness. you ask for help, you're considered weak. someone who needs psych care? weak. slap 'em around and have them walk it off! man up nancy! you got issues with yer mommy and yer daddy!? tough it out!

There is not a single law that could possibly be enacted that would prevent all mass casualty events.

NONE.

2012-10-21 01:38:45 PM
Guns should be illegal in blue states.

There's like 50 channels playing football 24 hours a day.

I wonder if this will also be a veteran or ex-veteran.

Came here to ask if these bastards are trying to have our guns taken away.

Police running into the spa. WISN cutting away as per station policy (they don't give out police positions if possible).

I'm guessing that this one had multiple photogenic white people on the business end of the bullets.

You're a funny guy.

To all those contemplating anything remotely close to this:

Save us the trouble and just put one to your head. You can leave us a nice note if you like.

2012-10-21 01:40:40 PM
Although I am a liberal for most other topics, I do not see how gun control will help. Those millions and millions of horses are already out of the barn. This needs to be dealt with on a case by case basis. Ending the drug war would be one of the biggest single policy steps, but I doubt it is related to a spa shooting.

Really? Wow... That's really, really despicable.

I used to be into controlling guns, but If they're going to just act like PETA about things, well they can bloody well do without my monthly donations.

Thanks for the education, good sir!

At least we know the shooter is a criminal, not a law-abiding gun owner.

/ Yesterday he was a a law-abiding gun owner
