Tip: Invest in companies making software to help stalkers mine data trails left by their one true love.

Driving manual, 2022 edition: Use turn signal before setting FB status to Tweeting "changing lanes"

FTFY - and sadly - plausible

FTFA:
"We expect this rate [of sharing] will double every 10 years. So in 10 years from now, people will be sharing about 1,000 times as many things as they do today."

I do not think that word means what you think it means.

It is acceptable if I don't take Mark Zuckerberg's word on the future?

Plus, we're already past the tipping point of irrelevance. The average person's ability to share information considerably exceeds the average person's amount of useful or interesting information to share.

If we do see a three order of magnitude increase in social information, all it will do is drop the signal-to-noise ratio even worse than it is today.

I was wondering about that curious bit of maths as well. Maybe that's why the whole IPO failed, a gross misunderstanding of basis arithmetic.

That's why I said the money is in data mining (filtering) software.

You people have no imagination.

By 2022, the car's integrated software will automatically update you social media when you use the turn signal.

The problem is that social media companies will make exclusive deals with automakers, so if you want the automatic Facebook updates, you'll have to buy a Ford. If you want automatic Twitter updates, you're stuck with GM.

Also, in the future, your car's software will be at least as important as the hardware. Don't install update #GM37478932 if you have a 2021 Geo! It totally bricked my engine!

I believe what he says. In 10 years we will be sharing a thousand times more information then we do now.

Medical data to your insurance company.

Vehicle status data to your insurance company.

Your web history to all advertisers.

Your location to all advertisers and the police and other government agencies.

In the future, surveillance will be so good, everyone will have a camera plotting the parabolic trajectory of every piss they take.

/and I will hack the system and download those videos.

Exponents, how do they work?

Obviously he meant "double every year"; why would he say "10 years" twice in a row on purpose?

Don't be afraid. The conversion is already well under way. Insurance companies have wireless devices that plug into your OBDII port to decide your insurance rates on throttle position and brake use as well as total time spent driving and at what speeds.

NYC has already rolled out security cameras all over the city that use facial recognition to track you anywhere you go.

Your cell phone is already tracking you based on cell tower triangulation or GPS, and providing it to advertisers for pushing ads to you.

ISP's are inspecting your packets to see if you are pirating content.

The government can monitor your phone, internet, and place a GPS on your car without a warrant.

/Have a nice day.
//They are watching. Always.
///Thank goodness they have petabytes more data then they have eyeballs.
