WHO THE HECK booked Pittsburgh vs Cincy for Sunday Night?

Someone who just wants to see us possibly get embarrassed by the Bungles on a national stage?

Don't have all the injuries sorted out yet, but if we can't win tonight, I don't know what to say.

Pitt vs Cincy is at least a divisional game but yeah, even I, an admittedly irrational Steeler hater have zero interest in this game

I hope they can wash the nasty taste out of their mouths after that horrible SNF game. They got beat all across the board. I know this is the NFL and any game that can happen, but yeesh. Did it have to be THAT one?

Yes, I'm not a fan of the Battle Red that much but that's what they're doing today so meh.

Oh man, after last Thursdays disaster, I'm afraid to watch this game. Our defense isn't doin too good.

A big thank you to the person who sponsored me for TF!

Also, I think I might need copious amounts of beer to deal with the Jaguars getting their asses handed to them by the Raiders later. I gotta get someone to drive me to the sports bar...

At least I can watch the games today without worrying about seeing my team lose. I already saw that happen on Thursday.

However I was also at the Hawks/Patriots game so it balances out.

/Who am I kidding. Being at that game outweighs several televised games. It was pure awesome.

Fox is airing baseball in the 4pm window. I'm wondering how many people would've been murdered if the NLCS were already over and they had nothing to fill that timeslot.

Go New York Tebows. For the Lulz

2012-10-21 12:08:29 PM
Here's my picks this week:

SEA @ SF
I'm not sure who was playing in San Fran Sunday, but whomever it was, sure didn't look like the Niners of last year and this. They laid a serious egg on prime-time TV, and were thoroughly abused and violated by the visiting Giants team. I don't see this happening again for two big reasons: One, the Seahawks aren't anywhere near as good on the road as the G-Men, and secondly, Harbaugh is way too good a coach to NOT use this last week as a motivational tool.
I expect an up-and-down asswhoopin' to be laid on the 'Hawks. They aren't bad, they just play that way on the road. At home they're a different team.

ARI @ MIN
The early line out of Vegas is Minnesota at home by 6ish. I concur with this, as the Arizona offense sucks even with two healthy QBs....Larry is pretty much all there is that worth a shiat. They have a stout defense, but Christian Ponder is playing well, taking care of the football, and making good decisions. Plus, Adrian Peterson. This is the squad that beat San Fran at home earlier this year, and they're playing very well as an 'under the radar' team.

DAL @ CAR
Which Dallas team will show up? The Cowboys are as talented a team as there is in the NFL, but the maddeningly inconsistent performances of the players AND coaches continues to confound the oddsmakers. Vegas says Dallas by 2.
The Panthers have so many issues it isn't even funny. For all the fantastic play of Cam Newton, there's a center getting lost to injury and setting up the oline with a backup. The still don't have a legit big-name or big-play receiver opposite Steve Smith, and the defense is still a large question mark.
I'll take Dallas.

NO @ TB
Speaking of inconsistency, let's welcome Josh Freeman to the show! This is the Tampa squad that hung *tough* with the Giants and were in it 'till the very end just a few short weeks ago, and hung 38 points on the stumbling Chiefs. BUT, they also lost very winnable games against Dallas and Washington.
New Orleans is better than their 1-4 record indicates, and can put points up on anyone. Drew Brees is still one of the best in the business even without a full compliment of coaches. Vegas says this is an even pick, and I disagree; I'll take N.O. in a solid if unspectacular win over the Bucs.

GB @ STL
St. Louis has a chippy defense and a solid special teams unit. They like forcing turnovers, and they play well at home. But the oline is still terribad, and Sam Bradford isn't getting any time to survey the field. Their running game is surprisingly good, given that Steven Jackson is getting a bit long in the tooth...their rookie stud (the *other* Richardson) is a nice change of pace and an effective 1-2 combo out of the backfield.
Green Bay is 3-3, but the thrashing of Houston in Texas last week should serve as a wakeup call to the players. A-Rod will put points in the board, and I'm pretty sure Clay Matthews is going to spend more time in Bradford's backfield than Jeff Fisher would like. A few bad decisions / turnovers early will put the Rams behind early and it'll be a looooong day. Packers thumping the Rams fairly convincingly.

WAS @ NYG
Division matchups are a good time. RG3 is playing fairly well and showing why he was the #2 overall pick. They're a bit banged up injury-wise, but the Skins are playing hard and putting some points up, but I don't know how successful they'll be against the aggressive Giants defense.
The G-Men are coming off a solid thrashing of the might Niners and are playing well. Eli is Eli and pushing the ball downfield easily, and that D gives him plenty of leeway. They're plus 64 in points, and have won two in a row. Vegas says New York by 7 or 8, and I think it'll be a lot more than that.

BAL @ HOU
Baltimore's offense is playing really, really well right now, but have only scored 18 TDs in their 6 games. Ray Rice is still what makes this unit tick, although Flacco is really coming up big this season. I'm more concerned with all the injuries on the defensive side of the ball. They're missing pro bowl caliber talent starters at every level of the defense.
Houston was, frankly, embarrassed by the visiting Packers Sunday night, and will be looking for a revenge game. JJ Watt is still a monstrosity, but without Cushing in the middle, they're a lot more reactionary than dominating. Vegas says the home team Texans by 5 or 6, and I'll agree.

TEN @ BUF
The Titans confound me. They SHOULD play a lot better than they do. Hasselbeck is as smart as they come, but Chris Johnson isn't holding up his end of the bargain. They struggle to put points up and give up too many (FYI, they're minus 90 in the points column).
Buffalo...ahh, Buffalo. I'm not even gonna go here, really. At home, they *should* whip up on the visiting Tits in fairly strong fashion. SHOULD. But even Vegas is unconvinced (they have the Bills by 3 right now) and I think they're just about right. Until the Bills play with some fire and get some performance out of their big-money players, I'll only pick them grudgingly.

CLE @ IND
Indy has the line out of Vegas at 3, meaning this is effectively an even pick. That sounds about right. While Luck is the real deal, they got him because the really, really sucked ass last year, and aren't much better now, consistently. They have some playmakers in Freeney, Mathis, Wayne, etc but are banged up and somewhat streaky in their production. (minus 45 in points, and a whopping 10 TDs in 5 games)
Cleveland is Cleveland. Trent Richardson is the workhorse they hoped he would be, and their aged rookie QB is capable if not a superstar. The defense will have its hands full with the Colts offense though, and we laugh at the "Factory of Sadness" for a reason. I'll take the Colts.

NYJ @ NE
In case my utter contempt and disdain for *both* these franchises hasn't come across clearly yet, I'm rooting for a meteor impact at the 50 yard line during the coin toss to remove both franchises AND the fanbases from our gene pool.
That said, no one fails in more spectacular public fashion than the J-E-S-T, and doing it in New England will be even more painful to watch. Good times. Vegas says the Cheatriots by 13, and they're being kind. I'm thinking fortyburger, as Lil Tommy Brieber is kinda miffed about Sunday's Sleepless in Seattle performance.

JAX @ OAK
Since I *have* to pick one, I'll go with Oakland. They're accidentally occasionally competent. Which is quite a bit more than I can say for the Jags. IF it weren't for MJD, there are High School teams that could whoop Jacksonville's ass.

PIT @ CIN
Even Vegas doesn't want to pick a side in this one (they're calling it even). Add the multitude of injuries that they're having to an already aging defense and porous oline, and Big Ben is running for his life and having a tough time of things (12 TDs in 6 games, and a plus 1 in points).
Cincy plays to the level of their competition. They'll hang tough with any team in the league, and then lose by 10 to Cleveland. I wish they'd make up their damned mind already. I'm going to take the Cats.

DET @ CHI
Detroit is another team that just can't seem to stay playing at one level. Very, very streaky. Stafford has a lot of weapons and they have a front office that doesn't mind lighting up the scoreboard, but they turn it over too much and make WAY too many dumb penalties.
The Chicago D is the lifeblood of the team. Again. Still. They've scored almost as many touchdowns as the offense, fer crying out loud, and the special teams unit is the gold standard. Vegas says Da Bears by 5 or 6, and I think that's a little low. The Lions will be close late (like normal) and mount a furious comeback, but Urlacher and Co. know that script well and will snuff it out.

Pittsburgh's got this. As far as the Ravens are concerned, last week's Pyrrhic victory will be their undoing. From here out, the only question is when the Steelers find themselves in first, not if.

Also Vilma is temporarily reinstated which, even if he doesn't contribute much on the field, should be an emotional lift to the team (although the offense will be missing Jimmy Graham which will hurt the passing game)

When Arizona came to the Metrodome last year, The Donovan McNabb lead Vikings cruised out to a 28-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Well, when I say McNabb lead the Vikings, I meant he lead them onto the field, because he certainly wasn't doing anything competent out there. I was at the game, and the boo birds rained down, despite the score.

Let's try to not suck today, ok? Ok.

I thought it was a joke too, but I googled and found an article.

Maybe it helps get Norv out faster, but I'm hoping ownership gives him a longterm contract extension.
