A friend of mine bought that album (flame cover) from the dollar bin at Zellers years ago. Of course I ran to same bin but was only greeted with k-tels.

I remember years ago, there was someone with a blog who was visiting all the death sites of famous rockers in the US.

The only one he couldn't even get close to was the Skynyrd crash site, as it's so far back in the swamp you'd get eaten by alligators before you got there. The memorial is so far into the woods/swamp that the nearest dry land is something like a quarter mile away and he was warned he'd likely be attacked by alligators if he went into the swamp.

I can image surviving a plane crash. But crashing at night into a swamp has to be utterly terrifying.

They had a pretty good reunion run in the 90's. I didn't see them every time, but the times I did the parking lot cops took a lot of blind eyes to what was going on. A lot of poppers, crank & spontaneous sex shows on the flatbed.

And you're mostly right. Guns were thankfully kept under wraps but I saw a lot of cutlery that embellished the motorcycle jackets.
Old Glory flew just as much as the Confederate (because Amerikuh), and their coiffed & styled mullets flew on display as well.

I tend to think that the ones who didn't die from their lifestyle spend their days posting conspiracy theories at the Freeper/World Nut Daily sites or bringing down the national average with their herp 'n derp.

I believe that's Chuck Klosterman's book called Killing Yourself To Live. That book is rather depressing & full of self-loathing. I'd recommend Fargo Rock City first.

I wouldn't wish flaming death on anyone, but I was reading up on the crash and apparently, Stephen Tyler was pushing Aerosmith to rent the plane before Skynyrd did; had they, history would have been quite different.

Mugato: That would have sucked. Aerosmith may have done nothing but power ballads for movies for the last 20 years but they're a damn site better than LS.

I don't know, I could see an alternative history where LS quietly went the way of Alabama in the late 1970s, while an Aerosmith wiped out by that plane crash would be remembered for "Dream On" rather than Steven Tyler "talent"-based game shows while running around looking like a Palm Beach grandma who's been dressed in drag in cast-offs from Stevie Nick's mid-1970s wardrobe.

Apparently he was able to plea down that potential life sentence to 8 years of probation. Must be nice being able to afford a good lawyer. And it wasn't statutory rape and child porn, it was sexual battery against his two daughters, ages 4 and 8. Definitely an awesome guy.

Sexual battery is one of those charges that covers a lot of ground. Sticking a thermometer up a kid's butt would technically be sexual battery in FL.

Got two of the original Street Survivors "fire" albums. I picked up the reissue of the CD with added bonus songs not included on the original release & they used the original cover. Some of the best Skynyrd music IMHO.
